yeah, we're just as surprised as you, who would've thought. They really should be 8-0, one loss due to a crazy deflected pass, and the other to a fairly bad team. As long as murphyman's Broncos pull neout tonight and beat the Steelers and if we can beat them next week, Bengals will be sitting good. OSU is still rolling, but we are pushing for the Cats, man undeafeted, ranked 5th, hopefully they will keep it up.
It's a wierd thing here in Cinci, this "winning" thing, we are not used to it!

On another football note -

I found it interesting no one picked up Chief's RB Larry Johnson on waivers. So now he is a free agent. I know this guy has had some issues in the past but I can't totally blame him for his latest fiasco. Mainly because Todd Haley is a genuine schmuck. :roll:

Well, I'm done with football til next year. I almost made it halfway through the season almost caring. Now, nothing, luckily the Hockey season has started and that is much more entertaining for me now. 1-7 so far... at least its 1 better than last year. I don't need to say what team, I'm sure you can figure it out, and I can't bring myself to even type it. :cry:

I think that the strength of schedule aspect should be played up more than it is in college football. Yes, you have some undefeated teams who are coasting through because they play no one and will play no one the rest of the year. Defeating two top ten teams back to back is much tougher than struggling against #25. At home. Beating two top ten teams in three weeks ought to get you into the rankings pretty well, but we will have to see what happens there. Beating a weak-as-jelly conference opponent (again) and running up 60 points against that non-program does not make a top ten team. The only top 10 teams who played anyone this weekend were Iowa & TCU. It is no mistake that the teams typically on the top of some conferences always schedule classic league basement dwellers for their last few games so that they can coast for 2 or 3 weeks before their conference championships. S.Carolina, Miss. State, Baylor, Idaho, Duke, LA Tech? Them be some quality opponents. Sure Stanford hung one on USC, but they have been a doormat for decades and this was known when they were scheduled.

Before anyone makes any false assumptions, no one in my home roots for those upstarts in Columbus.

Crap. I devolved into a rankings favor quanity of wins over quality of wins rant again. :lol:

I'll have to disagree. Last year's Utah win over Bama and being the only undefeated team should have given them the championship. A playoff is the only way to solve the issue. It is ridiculous. They have no legitimate excuse not to have one. The so called weaker conferences have a right to the titles as much as the powerhouse conferences.....then there's Notre Dame...riding the curtails of money only. The only team that can earn an automatic BCS bid for having an average record. Hogwash!

Teams from the real weak conferences, or teams that traditionally schedule as weak as possible, are in a better position for the occasional big game as they don't get beat to crap every week. They have a much lower chance of injury to key players and a lower fatigue factor than the teams that don't schedule 1AA schools or whose conference contains only the one team that anyone has ever heard of before.

Take TCU, for example: TCU has not beaten anyone with a good football team. Both they & Utah amassed most of their wins beating other conference nobodies. Even TCU's non-conference wins are against so-so teams this year. Virgina 3-7, Texas State--WHO?????, Clemson has only 1 quality win this season, SMU has played no one. It goes on and on for these outside teams. Now Boise St: outside of Oregon early in the season, who have they beaten? Anyone ranked? Close to ranked?

The BCS does some things right, and one of them is that running the table in the MAC or MW or such doesn't make you a great ball team.
