As far as I can see the front wheel flares on a 2002 hang down low at the front and fit behind the bumper. At some point the design changed and on the new models the front flare ends high above the stock bumper - with the bumper continuing back to the arch.

Question: Has the dimensions of the wheel arch changed between years. I mean would I be able to fit 2006 flares to a 2002 vehicle? Am thinking ahead for when I fit an ARB bumper and would prefer the neat 'roll-over' finish of the 2006 flares rather than cutting the ones I have.

Also - does anyone know if any aftermarket flares exist? I remember the Liberator vehicle had custom front flares that ended high (and also extended forward of the body a little at the front like a wrangler)

Cheers :?:

No there are now aftermarket flares available yet. I to would like to know if the 06 flares will fit an 02.

Well the easy way to tell would be to count and measure where the body rivets are. I would imagine the top ones would be common to both modesl, it's the ones that link the flares to the bumper on the 02-04 that are different, I think... I doubt they would re-invent the wheel...

Before installing my ARB, I looked into using newer fender flares. Everyone I talked to said the won't fit.

That said, take a look at my front flares now with the ARB (link in sig). I had my body shop do the install and he cut that fender flare perfectly straight. I don't have the edge guard on or anything and this looks like a factory installation!

They won't fit. The actual fender on the 02-04 KJs are different than the fenders on the 05-06 KJs. I looked into it after I got into an accident. The ARB also comes with a rubber siding for the fender flares that covers where you cut. It should look fine.

Are the Flares on the Rubi wider than the ones on the Sport? If so will they fit on the Sport?
