I was parked beside a Nitro the other day and noticed that the brakes on it looked considerably larger than the discs on my KJ, especially the rear discs. My question is that assuming that the Nitro and KJ drivetrains and running gear are essentially clones, would brakes from a Nitro fit on my 03 KJ? What about the brakes from a Commander?

you'd have to do some fancy work to move the caliper bracket further out if youre planning on going to a larger diameter rotor, which might also cause issues with wheel clearance if you have 16's

Got 17's with the stock 235/65 tires. Brakes have been a major issue since day one on this rig. I just had a rotation done and I'm going to need all new rotors and pads by spring. I occasionally tow a 3600-4000lb trailer, so I don't want to cheap out.

How have brakes been a major issue? And that would be sweet if it was a direct swap for the calipers and rotors.. Something someone needs to spend some money on and let us know.

Will a Nitro caliper bracket fit?

I put Impala police package rotors and caliper brackets on my Grand Prix when I had it. IIRC, stock was 10.9" diameter rotors, Impala was 11.9 or something. Easy swap. I had about 1/8" of clearance between the caliper and the 16" wheel.

Maybe the same would hold true here?

I just looked at the 2 parts manuals, if the caliper bracket from a KA/KK will bolt to the KJ knuckle, then all should work. But someone has to spend the $$ to find out.

Are the Nitro rotors actually larger, or is it just my eyes playing tricks?
