So here is the deal, I own a 2wd 09 Libby. I know what you are thinking, why would you buy a jeep if it is 2wd. Well to make a long story short it is my wife's and she said she didn't need 4wd.

Any ways here is what I am planning to do, I want to see if there is a way for me to do a cradle drop on mine. Once i get it figured out on how we can do it then i will be looking in to what it would take to drop the front diff. Also i know of a couple of places that make some really good half shafts so we can get some better ones.

Just wanted to let every one know what was in my head and i am always up for suggestions on how to make it work. Also the jeep pretty tool may even come out for this occasion.

Another option you could call up Jeepin by al they have already made a few 6" lifts for the kj and when i talked to them about it for the kk they said it would take about a week if i brought my jeep out to them.

A 4x2 doesn't have a front diff or half shafts... Now if you were going to make it a 4x4

I should have been clearer when talking to you before

i would think it be cheaper to trade yours in on a used 4wd, unless thats out of the question... you could always do a solid front axle swap

Yeah it would be cheaper to trade it off but that isn't what i want to do. and i really don't want to do a SFA due to the fact that it is not 4wd but from what i have seen so far it shouldn't be to hard to do a lager lift on them for a great amount of cash.

Its fine digger I knew what you meant anyways. I have been checking with the dealerships and found out that down the road if i want to make it a 4wd i can order the parts and have them install it then it is still covered under the warranty and also 6" lift and 35s are the largest that the dealer will still cover it under the warranty.

Also that is the main reason for keeping the front end the same is so the warranty will still cover it because that is the main reason we bought it.

This all sounds like a bunch of blarney, which is Gaelic for another word that starts with b. With a 6" lift and 35s, the only thing a dealership is going to cover is the radio.

unless you're planning on serious trails - 2wd works fairly well (with a locker)

and it avoids the issue of CV joints so a 6" lift is an option.

1st - you stack 2 lifts - a spring lift like OME gets a couple of inches - and then an OTT for the front (make sure you have extended bumpstops) and Daystar for the rear - maybe a clevis & iso pads to level things out, probably need Jeepin Al rear shocks.

However - you then run into the problem the SFA guys have - the rear DS is too short - so you'll have to play games with that, but very doable.

It should make a neat Pre-Runner

if you want to do serious trails - trade it in on a 4wd.

and any lift will void the warranty dealing with the suspension - and possibly the transmission

if you want the warranty - it needs to stay stock.

Most of it is done on dealer preference but this same dealer puts up to 6" lifts and 35" tires on brand new vehicles. If you don't believe it that is fine but to each there own and if he says it will be covered then im going to do it.

The rear drive shaft length is not an issue, trust me  The issue with the rear is the U-joint angles. Also, 4.0~4.5 inches is the max for ever one wondering for a 4x4. On a 4x2, you might be able to get 5 out of the front, but you run in to two problem. One being how low the LCA can drop. If the LCA was able to drop low enough, you run in to problem #2. Because of how far inset the new location is of the clevis bolt hole, one would have to put a huge amount of lateral force to get the coil over assembly over. If by some chance you did get the bolt started, the coil over would be trashed by 10K....

Appreciate it digger and i will keep that in mind. What about dropping the A arms a few inches would this be possible or not. I would really like to be able to fit 35's on. Also what about getting a new drive shaft made with a cv like joint at the axle. Just wondering if that would work.

Thanks
Eric

A 6" lift and 35's on a Ram 3500 is not that big a deal... but on your KK it is.

Get you additional warranty coverages it in writing because if that guy is gone the next time you roll in you may not have any warranty.

And even if you do get it in writing and you happen to break stuff in my neck of the woods I can promise you "but my dealer said they would cover it" won't work here... even with a letter from anyone other then Chrysler itself.

There is no "allowable" height or tire size modifications... it's up to the dealers discretion whether to deny warranty or not. So what is ok at your selling dealership means nothing anywhere else.

If you come in on 35's with 6" lift complaining of diff problems you had better have a high limit on that credit card.

Every dealership I've ever talked to say the #1 killer of a warranty is bigger then stock tires, they can be blamed for any powertrain failure and it is most likely to stick.

I appreciate all of the thoughts but can anyone help me with the fact in hand. I want to do a 6" lift and would there be a way to do it on the front end of these or not. If there is can we as a group make this happen or should i just try to concur this one on my own.

It would not be that hard, some series modification and fabrication/machining time will be needed. You also will spend alot of money on parts that will end up not working after many trial and errors.Just stacking 2 lifts(spacer and full coil lifts) will only lead to more problems.

Yeah I understand that but how close in suspension are the KJ and KK? If they are close then I could use some parts from the JBA 6" lift to do the front and the 6" springs for the rear.

They are close, but not close enough. I need to talk to marlin any way, so I will see what I can do to help him.......

Ok that will work and I am going to start taking measurements tomorrow. We will see what we can do to make this work. Now do you think with the right amount of trimming and a 6 inch lift 35s would fit?

Wait a sec ... Your wife didn't want an OPTIONAL 4wd system on her Liberty but she'll take a 6" lift and 35's?
