i just put in a 2 inch lift.. looking for tires now.. my question is it possib le to go to a 30x9.5/15 inch tire? i know i will need new rims..

or should i just stick with the 245/70/16?

Yea 30x9.5x15's will fit but only if you get new wheels with less backspacing. I mean you could possibly even fit 31x10.5x15's. And remembe you have to pound youre pinch weld....

Ok.. so i narrowed dpwn my wheel and tire search... went to summit racing.. quesstion is would these fit?

.....................................................

Cragar 3657712 - Cragar V-5 Wheels
Steel, Black, 16 in. x 7 in., 5 x 4.5 in. Bolt Circle, 4 in. Backspace, Each

Part Number: CRR-3657712

..........................................

General Tire 15463760000 - General Grabber AT2 Tires
245 /70R16, Radial, Load Range SL, T Speed Rating, Outlined White Letters,

Part Number: GTI-15463760000

i am planning on buying 5 of each.. the total price.. after shipping costs is going to be $956.45... that seems like a reasonable price...

i know the tires will fit... but i am just wondering about the wheel.. with a 4 inch backspacing what would i expect it to look like? would it be sticking out too far?

thanks everyone for putting up with the questions that i ask...

is 4 inch back spacing too much? what would it look like compared to the stock wheels?

4 inches of backspacing is perfect IMO. I prefer the 15" wheel over the 16" wheel, but that is preference. I went with a 30X9.50R15, LT, Load C, 16/32 tread depth.

thanks for the reply.... i just didnt know if i could fit the 15 inch wheel over the calibers... i thought i have heard someone say that they cant do it...

how far out would they stick out by the way? would it make the kj look more agressive?

The Cragar 15" steel wheel will fit. Yes, it will look better.

Tire Brand: TOYO Open Country A/T
Rim: 15X7 Cragar Soft 8
Backspacing: 4" inches
Tire Size: 30X9.50R15 LT C
7Rim Width: 6.5-7.5-8.5
Tire Weight: 36 lbs
Tread Depth: 16/32
Tire Diameter: 29.5
Tire Width: 9.5
Max Load: 1985 lbs
Max PSI: 50

This is still a good sized tire for stock gearing, but 4:10's would be much better. You have a standard trany with 4:10's, so you'll be okay

This will help you compare:

15X7 Cragar Soft 8 wheels (4 inches of backspacing)
16X8 Mopar Rubicon Moab wheels (5 inches of backspacing)
16X7 Mopar KJ Aluminum wheels(5.5 inches of backspacing)
17X7.5 Mopar KJ Chrome Clad wheels (5.5 inches of backspacing)

Here's what the KJ looks like with Moabs: The Cragar 15X7 or 16X7 will look about the same because they are 7" instead of 8" wide

does it rub the calipers at all? i trust your judgment i really do.. i just dont want to buy a set of rims if they cant fit. lol

i would rather go to 15x7 because they are cheaper... lol

In a steel wheel like the soft 8s or the V5s like you are getting they will fit over the calipers, aluminum wheels in the 15 inch size will hit the calipers

No, they do not rub. The 15" Cragar steel wheels will not hit the calipers whereas the aluminum wheels will hit the calipers. The 15X7 is a better fit for your application IMO. You want more tire for more sidewall flex. Also, there are a lot of tire choices in a 15” rim vs. a 16” rim. You can find more Load C range tires for a 15” rim. Load E tires are way too stiff for our KJ IMO.

It goes back to preference. Most users on this forum will tell you to stick with either a 15X7 or 16X7. I have Moabs and I also have the cragar 15X7's.
