Anybody else read this?
Here's some interesting test data on rust busters.

"The April/May 2007 edition of Machinist's Workshop did a test of penetrating oils where they measured the force required to loosen rusty test devices. Buy the issue if you want to see how they did the test. The results reported were interesting. The lower the number of pounds the better. Mighty interesting results for simple acetone and transmission fluid!

Penetrating oil . Average load .. Price per fluid ounce
None ................. 516 pounds .
WD-40 .............. 238 pounds .. $0.25
PB Blaster ......... 214 pounds .. $0.35
Liquid Wrench ... 127 pounds .. $0.21
Kano Kroil ........ 106 pounds .. $0.75
ATF-Acetone mix.. 53 pounds .. $0.10

The ATF-Acetone mix was a 50/50 mix (1 to 1 ratio)."

Nothing said about using straight diesel fuel. Must be right there with WD-40 I assume...Hmmmmmm

If we could figure out how to put a 1:1 Acetone-ATF mix in a aerosol can it would sell.
Of course CARB and Climate Change Freeks would find a problem with the product and never look at the bottom line of overall environmental impact.
But since most Jeep Owners are more Intelligent than the PHDs of CARB, we all know not scrapping out a component is the best use of our resources.

Good Job Turbo Tim :)

But the application of acetone + ATF is very much more restricted than the commercial counterparts it's being compared to due to the fact that acetone reacts with most plastics and finishes.

Use this all the time...has acetone as the carrier and works like a champ.

These are some interesting numbers. I have been using biodiesel since I already have it around here.

I imagine bio and acetone would be equivalent to ATF. Of course any CRD owner is going to have ATF on hand.

hmmmm, I wonder if the bio would be as reactive to plastics and rubber like acetone is.... From a fire safety stand point, bio is way safer.......
