Let it be known from this time forward...I copied Tommudd's rear bumper modification! Thanks Tom for doing it first, I was a chicken!

 WOW looks as good on your's as it does mine

Little trick I also did was to cut off/trim the top of the license plate and then drill a couple of holes a little lower and moved it up almost two inches, ( shoves the top of the plate all the way up into the pocket) , that way it would not get bent or torn off. Not sure if its really legal to drill/cut license plates, but you really can't tell that I did it.

Looks good and I was wondering who the next fool, err I mean brave soul would be!

Tom

Thanks guys! I just couldn't have done it without seeing it first. But I do like it! I cut mine off at the bottom of the indent for the spare tire then it's angled down a little to the wheel well. I cut off the wheel well part right below that stupid plastic fastener like Tom did. I had to stop a few times so the dremel could cool down but it did the job. I used a wood cutting saw blade on it.

All I have to do now is dress up the cut line some and wire tie up some wires. Maybe some black paint also.

Terry

Was going to ask you what you cut it with. Good job again. I thought it was a might higher than mine in the rear. I've been looking to angle mine some as well, guess I have to now to stay up with you Terry!

I never stood on my bumper so I can't see any reason to do it now! All you guys have to do is get a little circular saw blade made for a different high speed tool. It fits and cuts very well. I expect to see a bunch of these Tommudd Rear Bumper Mods real soon!

Interesting!! Nice cut job. Looks good. But same concept as the rear bumper on the Cheros overseas, No?

Actually looks pretty good Terry, I've not had any issues with clearance on mine but nice to know from others that it is doable.

Well I can't speak for other states but I'm pretty sure that little mod would net a hefty fine out her in AZ. According to a new law that went into effect last year (?) the top of the plate must be visible and unobstructed, they were going so far as to ticket folks who had the plate frames that obscured the state designation at the top of the plate, all thanks to the lovely traffic cameras that they are installing on the freeways

I think you missed the whole point of what I did. You can still see my plate just fine, or I can anyways  Don't think they can fine me for this . You can see where the license plate bolts are lower on the plate is all

OK that I can see doing - from your earlier post it sounded like you had the top of the plate shoved up behind the plastic :? I don't think you'd have a problem with that out here, I've seen plenty of TJs and others running around with bolts relocated, plates wrapped around the corner of the tub, etc. The only reason they have that new law on the books anyway is so that the freeway cameras can have a clear view of the plate to determine which state it is from so they can get the citation to the proper person
