(API testing is what I think you meant there JeepinJarhead.)

API testing of motor oils is only to meet a minimum standard. Funny thing is there are recycled motor oils on the market that pass the minimum standards the same as the rest of the API oils. Does that mean they are as good?

Amsoil uses formulations that are not API compliant but they are engineered to meet the needs of an application, not some across the board API standard. Amsoil engineers oil to perform better than the competition in most regards w/out being tied to API's requirements.
Amsoil guarantees their oil regardless of API and will warranty any oil related failures, (which are extremely rare for any oil anyway) And then file suit against any MFG or dealer that denied claims, forcing Them to prove that a failure was oil related. This goes for Amsoils API certed and non-certed oils. To date, since 1972, Amsoil has not lost a case related to their warranty. (same goes for all their products, not just engine oil)

oil arguments, its all a pissin' match really. use whatever turns your crank. chances of oil related failure are small regardless of brand used. However, if you want peace of mind using one of the best oils, want to take advantage of extended service intervals, great filtration products, etc, etc. then use Amsoil. If not then don't.

X2  Plus, I would like to add that I have personally used Amsoil 0W30 in a 1995 Chevy Tahoe (V8, 5.7L 350 throttle body). I sold the truck with 247,000 miles with the original engine and transmission. Both the transmission and engine was in great condition. I changed my engine oil with a 10,000 - 15,000 mile interval. I also used the Amsoil ATF transmission fluid and changed that in 50,000 mile intervals. I also have a 2006 Dodge Cummins in which I run the Amsoil HDD 5W-30. I change the engine oil (14 quart capacity) once a year or every 15,000 miles. According to my UOA (Used Oil Analysis), the lab said, “NO CORRECTIVE ACTION REQUIRED, OIL IS SUITABLE FOR CONTINUED USE. RESAMPLE AT NEXT REGULAR INTERVAL.”

I cant quote the exact quaker state, weight, blend w/e that the guy used, can vouch for his intervals though, and i wish digital cams were in use at the time because i would have loved to have had a picture of it. Almost perfect impression of the inside of the valve cover, nastiest thing i'd ever seen short of a small engine like a lawn mower or something

Ill agree that oil arguments are more pissing matches then anything. Personally I use Mobile 1 and heavy duty purolator filters every 3000 miles for the Jeep and its worked great for now. Hoping to get some serious mileage out of the 3.7l. The only issue I have had it the previous owner used bad dino oil so the first few changes were kinda dirty.
