I changed my oil tonight and when I went to install the new filter there was a little hose in the way. I went to move it a bit and noticed one end was loose. Can anyone tell me what it is and how / where it should be terminated?

It is the smallest hose in these pictures. A couple of them show the end propped up on one of the pulleys. This bundle is located in the front drivers side, near the bottom of the engine bay. Right by the oil filter. The end that I can't pull up is pretty firmly terminated close to where you see it dissapear, unless it is clamped there, it is very firm. The loose end doesn't seem to have an opening or function...just a bolt hole to mount it. Any help would be appreciated. I've got some driving to do friday and I'd like to know what it is before I go. Not sure if I knocked it loose tonight or if it was like that a while.

Im not sure but I think its either a breather hose och a vacum test hose.
Mine is secured on a bolt sticking up under my battery tray.

Vent hose for the front diff is suppose to be up under the battery tray, get another longer piece of hose and extend it higher OR just wire tie that one up as high as it will go!

Both wrong...... That is the Differential inflation hose. Blow really hard on it to inflate your front diff to the required 50-60 PSI. While you are down there, tighten up your firewall gasket bolts too.

:) I thought maybe it was for my headlight fluid.

I'll zip it up tonight and extend it later. Thanks guys.

Every since I had mine off for the lift, it will not stay on. I zip tied it back under the battery tray where it came from. I think that if you are in water over your battery in a KJ, having to drain & replace the front diff fluid is the least of your worries...

it should snap on one of the 4 upper shock/strut mount bolts, the front inner bolt closer to the engine. you can feel it under the battery tray
