I had the Jeep parked behind the motorhome because I was using the table saw in it's spot in the garage. I was working on the honey to do list installing a new floor when she decided to take the dogs to the park. She pulls her CTS out of the garage and swings a 180 into the back of the Jeep. :? She then blames the accident on me claiming that I shouldn't of parked there. The damage to the CTS is $1795 and the damage to the Jeep is $573

scratches on rear bumper and top plastic

It was parked behind motorhome where the dry spots on driveway is

My wife backed into our garage and right into my vise mounted to my work bench and dented the Blazer's tailgate. It was my fault cause I left the vise open 4".... :?
At least she did more damage to her car... 8) not that it makes it any better.

Of course it's your fault! You're the husband, right? How long have you been married not to have learned that? I don't even want to touch the crazy things I've been blamed for, but in the end, yes, it was in some way my fault....every time....no matter what.

"I'm sorry." is much less dangerous than saying, "I'm right."

Dan

P.S. Sorry to hear about the damage to the jeep (and the other vehicle). Hope your insurance doesn't F you over on that.

Instead of replacing the plastic - maybe you can get a Rocklizard rear bumper

That way the next time she backs into it -
you can touchup the Rustoleum and she can replace 1/2 the car
3/16" steel plate doesn't bend as much as the plastic.

(but it'll still be your fault)

Dan, the insurance deductible is $500. I was hoping that would be all, but turns out it's $500 per vehicle = $1000 if I get both fixed. I have to get the CTS fixed for the princess but the Jeep can wait for now. Maybe I can buff most of the scratches out when my new garage is finish.

Yes I also know the choices I have.

1. Do I want to be right
2. Do I want to be happy.

I pick number 2.

I did get a big lunch shortly after that, more than I can eat.

Her car gets priority and I get to pay the deductible and all other cost. My last post check choice number 2.

Wow

I am again reminded why I never got married.

Yes it is all your Fault even though as a driver its the driver's responsiblitly to know where the car is going and what might be in it's path. Oh and not have a colision with non moving things.

Well at least she made you a nice big lunch to say sorry. better than an ex I had years ago who hit a curb with my car after making a right turn busting the tire and bending the rim did. she was never sorry untill I moved on. oh and that was my fault too.. I never told her you have to turn the wheel back to go straigt again after making a turn when I taught her to drive. never mind that she passed her state book and road tests to get her liscence 2 months before that happened.

Thankfully I am not married. American women are not worth the drama.

I married German this time. still have some of the same issues but she seems to be better "grounded" than the previous 2. Because of that I can check number 1 on that list. But all of that is orrelivent, the point is that it is done and both have to be fixed. if there is not metal damage, then I would just buy the parts have them painted and then do the installation myself. But that is me.

3 point turn out of that driveway? Does it bend or empty onto a 4 lane? Seems a little unnecessary.

My mom clobbered my camaro when it was parked right behind her but on the other side of the closed garage door. Smoked it too. I couldn't have been 6 feet from her parked car and she did about 2k worth of damage...

As for getting a steel bumper: he has to pay for the accidents and his wife drives a CTS. I think I'd rather do less damage to her car, not more. That things got to be a fortune to fix.

Sorry for not getting back sooner, I been busy getting new garage ready. I haven't heard back from the insurance company yet and may have to wait until after the holidays till I get her car fixed. We will leave in two weeks for a trip in the motorhome and won't be back until then.

Boiler, the 3 point turn out of the driveway isn't necessary but desirable. After the concrete area, there is a 150 feet blacktop driveway that curves and steep incline. The 35 motorhome is a pita to back out unto the 2 lane road, but at least it has a rear camera.

If I ever want to get a steel bumper for the jeep, it would be front only and I would lift it with new springs first. We will see what the new garage will bring once I get it finish. I have the compressor installed and a 10,000 lbs lift columns and overhead frame installed. The lift won't be done until after the holidays for I have to spend the time getting the motorhome ready and honey-do list.
