So, after about 2 years, the hose I used to plumb my pro-vent is starting to degrade and seep oil mist all over everything. I'm planning on using a combination of barbed poly fittings and 3/4" ID PCV/fuel hose for the majority of the re-plumb, but is there a oil-reisistant 1" ID product I can use to connect to the provent itself that's readily available at napa/autozone/oreilly, etc? The closest I've found is heater hose (don't know if it'll stand up to the oil mist) and/or gates hydraulic hose (costs 8 bucks a foot and is a bit of a drive to find someone who carries it).

Anyone found a 1" alternative that's inexpensive and fairly easy to source?

Dan

If the hose you used previously lasted 2 years, why not just use that again?

1" fuel and oil hose. Should be avaliable at Napa. Coolant hose will work.

The stock hose is just under 3/4" and I found that 3/4" hose won't stay on the puck and intake fittings :D The day I put my provent back on I had replaced the heater hoses on my 00 XJ. One hose is 11/16" and fits ccv puck and fitting on the intake air plenum perfectly. So using sections of the molded XJ hose I was able to plumb it using that and one piece of 3/4" nylon braided clear hose. I selected barbed fittings that fit into the provent fittings and used JB weld to secure them in place. There's a unused hole in the bracket for the turbo vacuum thingy and I bolted a piece of metal to that wide enough to bolt the provent bracket too. I got this idea from a former poster and am assured a good quality heater will hold up. The nylon section allows me to monitor what goes into the intake

I just installed mine a few weeks ago. I used heater hose from advanced auto parts and clear PVC for the drain hose. I zip tied it in, I am not sure how to make a mount in in the write up in the tech section.

I hope my hose lasts a while.

Because I'd rather spend a few hours figuring out a better solution than repeating one that I know is inadequate, looks non-stock, and might fail even sooner next time. I also like to over-engineer things for piece of mind on principle :)

The other mistakes I made were using threaded elbows (since even with clamps, the fluid gets out eventually) and trying to make a "closet bend" with poly hose instead of just putting in another elbow. I'll take pictures of the new setup. It sounds like I'll be able to find 1" fuel hose, which should work well (even though I couldn't find it on their website...).

Clear pvc hose is not a good idea it will collapse from heat off the engine cutting off the flow and possible engine seal damage. Heater hose works but has a limited life span, the oil dissolves it and turns it into a sticky mess. the poly threaded fittings leak because the hot oil vapors shrink the fittings. By trial and error with my system. I have found materials that stand up to this harsh enviroment. http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/vie ... ccv+filter

I used 3/4" heater hose w/ a 1" PVC adapter @ the ProVent w/ a 1" hose for both the inlet and outlet.

I've only had the ProVent installed for about about 15 mo. and last week I checked it and have had no issues. Replacing the hose in the future isn't a big worry, heater hose is cheap and I still have to clean my MAP on occasion. It's not a big job.

If you were using brass or steel threaded elbows they are most likely are NPT threads which are tapered. You need to use teflon tape or thread sealant to ensure they don't leak.

A gas hose is available at about any parts store, the oil won't dissolve it, and cause pressure. I have worried about ice build up at the end of the hose in really cold weather but so far nothing has appeared. I used a 3/4 id hose and a small clamp to hold it. :D
