Driving home from 18 hr night shift, Started up as norm' left her idel for a min or two when the red flash and chime woke me up.
the engine was idling a bit rough phoned the brakedown, they said speed would be limited to 50mph max.
they came out took her into the shop in for about 2 days, said they changed the Electronic Throtle Control Mod' complete.

It's possible there was nothing wrong. You mentioned waking up. Is it possible that you could have had your foot lightly on both the brake and accelerator at the same time? That will set a fault.

I also had a mysterious ETC fault three years ago. I did absolutely nothing and it never came back.
