Well, you're right - this is better than $12K worth of front end damage... Sorry to hear that.

I did have that TSB done with the ebrake - didn't really do doo doo. I've read through the descriptions of manually shortening the cable through the console, but haven't done it as it obviously causes drag and leads to very short brake life.

Is there some other fix you guys are talking about? Can't see why digger would be fearing the cold to open up the console...

So, I got the KK back - looks really good. I have to take it back down to the shop for them to remove a bit of over spray from the windshield and will try to get them to cough up some pics while I'm down there.

Well - no pics... Not sure what the issue was but there won't be anything forthcoming. I would've taken a few myself, but given that it was -15 and dark when the accident happened, the whole idea for going back outside seemed sort of not worth it. Hopefully, the next time my wife parks the jeep in the trees, it'll be 60 and sunny.

Something I don't understand though; What is this 'emergency brake' you speak of in your KK? I've never heard of that before...

I will say however, there is a handle near my right hand while its at rest. Now hear this - in quite a few other autos I have driven, this is a handle that accuates a parking brake. Now here's the silly part: while driving my 08 KK, I *most* of the time, pull it up when I come to a more permanent halt (not at lights or intersections, mind you) simply out of habit. I'd like to consider my transmission as a better holding device (we'll call E-brake or parkng brake) simply because it does all the work anyway!
