As I’ve mentioned a couple of times I’ve been having a Glow plug problem with cyl #2 P1263 – started last December at 65,000 miles (1st gp issue). I have extended warranty so I paid my deductible at the beginning – no charges since then. It took longer because when it would die – I’d wait for a convenient time to take it in.
On the 1st couple of times they just replaced the plugs (assuming there was a handling issue – then the module and then about 4th or 5th plug – Chrysler Tech (STAR) decided to change out all 4 (still not sure of that logic) and they managed to break one – so they had to pull the head to remove the pieces – they didn’t spend a lot of time inspecting it though – just cleaned it up & put it back together – lots of time spend awaiting parts.
That seemed to work for a couple of months and then they started dying again – so STAR started replacing wiring pieces, the GP harness – battery cables ect – The local tech was convinced back in August that they needed to pull the head again – but had to get Chrysler to agree and they waited until they exhausted all other possibilities – at the end they want him to run a borescope in – didn’t have one available – so he pressurized the coolant overnight – it leaked down and the glow plug had antifreeze on it – so Chrysler agreed to pull the head
This time the machine shop found a crack on the # 2 intake (it was caked with gunk 1, 3,4 were slightly oily but no gunk). They replaced the head (came assembled with all new valves, springs, plugs)
And so far – it seems to be doing great.
No idea why it cracked – it’s never overheated – never really been stressed – followed all the recommend maintenance (in fact dealer service most of the time) only guess so far is casting flaw.

glad to hear it was eventually sorted out. I remember reading your ongoing saga.
