On my 06 Libby 6-Speed, my gear Shift handle came out again today. That's pretty neat when your going down the road and your gear shift lever just comes out.

Dealer says, "Well, you'll have to buy another one." So I showed him the cardboard holding shim tension on the lock lever that holds the steering wheel from simply moving up and down. Again he says, "You'll need to buy a new steeering column."

Ye know, I expect to replace brakes, a CV Joint, maybe a Wheel Bearing. Never have I had to replace a Gear Shift or a Steering Column.

With only 58K, I am not impressed. :furious:

Great. I have about 70K on mine and now I will start worrying about this as I pull one of my at-least-once-a-week 1-2 power shifts at about 5,000 rpm. :(

i havent seen the shim on the liberty for the steering column but one of the ford econolines had a similar crappy item and i was able to replace the wear item with a rolled shim like what you use on some box truck roll up doors to hold the spool on

ive never tilted the wheel in mine other than the initial adjustment when i bought it, i think if mine breaks i'll probably end up pulling it apart and figuring out how to splint and weld it in position

our manual gear shifters probably use the same plastic pin that mustangs use which is ridiculous, does hurst or b&m make anything that will work that has better hardware?
