Browsing around today I came across a company called RCV Performance (http://rcvperformance.com). They make heavy duty, genuine ball-and-cage CV joints for H1s, GM trucks, Mercedes, Land Rovers, Toyotas, etc. They even make replacement D60, D44, D30 and even Rockwell 2.5 ton axle shafts with CVs on the ends that they claim are stronger than the U-joints that people normally use.

I bet they could build some awesome CV axle shafts and CV prop shafts for the KJ…

I sent off an email to see if they'd be interested. I'll post back when I've heard something.

They make incredible products. I wheeled with a guy that ran a set in his TJ, and was just impressed. They have a wide angle of degree before they even come close to binding up like shafts

Variable axle length not built into the joint. Looks a lot better to me.

Would be OK but a ton of work and extra parts to be able to use anything like that. Most people hate to pay 700-1000 bucks for a decent lift, can't see them spending 500 per side for any type of CV plus the extra pieces needed to bolt something like the above to

Great thought/idea for a few of us though

I'm sure the diff side can be changed to mate to the D30a.

Why would it be a lot of work and extra parts? They make straight replacement shafts for other IFS vehicles so I'd imagine that they could make them for the KJ and KK too. As for price, I agree, they aren't cheap, but they would be a nice option for those interested in keeping IFS, and most of their half shafts are around the same price as the cut down JE Reel CVs that JBA is selling.

can change quite a few stock cv's for 1000 bucks in the 3ish inch lift and lower range

if ya going much over that you have to do something in the cv area non-stock and you won't have much of a choice

so yeah.. like tom said

for the 'few'
