While under the Jeep recently I noticed that the insulation padding between the body and the transmission and transfer case is all torn up and falling down. :?

I can't find a part number for this in my parts catalog or anywhere else. Anyone know what it is?

Anyone replaced this before? Thanks!

It must be sound and heat insulation. If the dealership doesn't have it and you want to replace it, I'd try aluminized hi temp honeycomb flexible sheet insulation installed with high strength contact cement then seamed with aluminum tape. Such an animal probably can be had in a speed shop. It sounds like a PITA job!

I'm missing a decent amount of mine. Most of it got ripped off my my front DS. Then I ripped most of the hanging stuff off. I'm not to worried about it. ha

Yeah, I assume it's for sound and heat, and I definitely want to replace it as the transmission tunnel gets pretty dang hot without it there. I'm sure the dealer has it, but I was hoping to find a part number so I can figure out what I should be paying for it.

Good idea on the aluminum honeycomb. It's probably cheaper than the original insulation from the dealer, likely will work better, and it won't get torn up by squirrels and water crossings.

Oh, and yeah, it really does look like a PITA job to do.

Freedomkj, I looked through my library and I couldn't even find a parts page with the stuff listed on it.
