This morning my belt tensioner went out on the way to work so I got towed home by AAA and ultimately I couldn't get the tensioner off the Jeep in time to take it with me to the parts store. I needed a 1/2 drive 6 point socket. OK, maybe not needed... but nothing I had on hand seemed to be working and the 6 point did... and now I have one. :)

Anyway, look below at the 2 parts together and tell me if I got the wrong one. My issue is the pulley on the right, the one on the replacement part is about an inch bigger in diameter than the one I took off the KJ and obviously looks much different.

The fische only lists one part number for the V6 but something tells me this is not the right one. This replacement is made by Gates Corporation of Canada and is numbered 38167. I gave the parts guy the DC part number, 53030958AD.

Those who have done the replacement on this, did yours look like the one I bought? My V6 KJ has AC and an auto trans.

Thanks...

MojaveKJ

your new one looks like the same one i put on mine when i replaced the old one, i didn't compare them at the time so I have no idea if there was that much of a size difference

i think you're fine though, an inch difference is only half an inch in belt tension and i think it's got a 3 inch throw

Just the information I was after, much appreciated. The KJ must have known that I ordered parts yesterday for something completely different. My parts guys love me lately. :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: :2cents: :banghead:

Thanks again...!!!

Yep KJs are a jealous breed...

The day or maybe just week, I brought the Caddy home, the KJ crapped its rear window regulator, I was even being nice to it and giving it a bath!!!
