I am in the middle of this stupid ice storm in OKLAHOMA, and it got me thinking.
Is it possible to run a heated wire on the front glass to dethaw it, kinda like the in-glass heating in the back glass?

Really would be helpful. Thanks

I would like to see heated windshield wipers. That way when you are driving in heavy snow/ice you wouldn't have to stop and clean them off.

best bet for right now would be some sort of plug in overnight heater
and/or a remote start.

the plug in would let the engine start blowing warm air fast - the remote you let the engine warm up while you're inside sipping coffee.

- pretty sure there aren't any heater wire windshields.

when i was in IL we would take sheets of plastic and tie a golfball on either side and bungi it to the rear view mirrors

whenever you went to leave in the morning you unhooked it, shook it off, threw it in a black trash bag and tossed it in the cargo and put it back on when you got wherever ya were going

My last car, 2003 Outback limited had heat wires in the windshield where the wipers parked. It was part if the cold weather option package. They activated when the heated mirrors or rear defrost were turned on if I remember correctly. the system didn't work that well if the wipers were moving continously but in intermitent it helped. heated seats were also included, on the limited they were leather too just like the Jeep's. the heated wiper area is the only feature My Liberty don't have and the Outback did.

Hummer H1s actually have heated windshields. You can see the wires if you look really close. Apparently they have the side effect of severely diminishing GPS signals, making external antennas nearly required to run a GPS in one.

also with a full heated windshield turnpike EZpasses that mount inside the window won't work, you have to get one that mounts to the front plate.
