Inquiring minds want to know, do our KJs have stainless steel or fiberglass pistons in their brake calipers?

Neither,OEM is a composite piston and you can get steel pistons in aftermarket ones.

i got the "loaded" NAPA front calipers for mine. my front left was sticking real bad. so i replaced both fronts. after core charge, it was 100 bucks for both front calipers with pads ready to bolt up, cant really beat that. the pads are nothing special and leave a ton of brake dust, that was my only complaint. i have replaced them already with a different kind because the sandy mud tore them up. but the calipers are still working great.

im pretty sure the ones i got are chrysler oem calipers, just rebuilt from NAPA, they have the chrysler logo on them.

Have folks found that rebuilding is common? My last vehicle that needed a rebuild was a honda and it was at 126k miles. My KJ only has 50k and as far as I know, isn't sticking...

Is there a rebuilt kit (with pistons/boots/seals/etc) that's worth using if I'm just planning on replacing pads/rotors? If enough people have had issues, it might make sense to do a "warm rebuild" while I have things taken apart.

Dan

It's just cheaper in the long run to get remaned calipers, works already done and if you get the premium loaded calipers from Napa they have a lifetime warranty. You can buy the rebuilt kits but most do not come with a new piston, that is extra.
