Just to keep the thread from being locked I won't antagonize anyone any further. Some of you know that I cannot psychically work on my own vehicles, some don't. One in particular apparently didn't. So be. I'm out of here and on to better subjects.

Dropping that game to the Kings Saturday was a heartbreaker. I can't believe they let that one slip away.

What game where you watching? Granted, there really was no running game but it was far from the aerial show many (including myself) thought it might be.

Yeah, were did the Kings come from? They have sucked for so long, and now... they don't.

I just hope the Wings make the playoffs to keep that streak alive (20 years)!

If any of you had met me, you'd know eactly how far from actually getting under my skin you are. I think those that do know me also know that I place the proper amount of importance on these threads. It is a football thread on a jeep site on the internet, Francis, not anything important for Incommando's sake!

Handicap? Infirmity? Hey, post it up in a sig line or STHU. I am not nearly so vain as to think that the site revolves around me and everyone should know my bidness. None of you should be shocked if it doesn't revolve around you so that everyone knows yours.

I know a parapalegic who turns wrenches from his wheelchair and who is a decent enough guy that help is never far away for what he can't do. I know stroke, heart attack, and cancer survivors who do it. But again, I KNOW them because there is a difference between the real world and a jeep forum. :roll:

So, who is going to take Lord Stanley's Cup?

I don't want to start a flame war with you Murph - you are the OP on this thread, beloved by all - but I have to disagree. I think (trying to seperate my bias from my fanhood) that the Saints, top-to-bottom, are a better team, but only slightly. It was enough to give them the 14 point edge last night. Here's how I break it down, based on team advantage:

QB: Advantage Colts, but not by much. Manning may only have the edge due to physical characteristics (much taller and bigger in the pocket, stronger arm). I think Brees has better poise than Manning and doesn't get frustrated as easily. Both Manning and Brees are brilliant at reading defenses and delivering the ball - as evidenced by their numbers last night.

RB: Advantage Saints, but not by much. My LSU homie Addai had a good game last night, so did the rookie behind him. But the Saints' stable is deeper, and they are all such a receiving threat out of the backfield.

WR: Even. Experience and depth, playmaking ability, and physical characteristics on both teams are nearly the same. Trade the receivers from one team to the other and it wouldn't look much different.

TE: Advantage Colts. Shockey and Thomas are both great, but Clark is a BEAST.

OLine: Advantage Saints. They are bigger and stronger, and pushed the Colts D Line around all night. If Freeney had been 100%, he would have been doubled or chipped all night, and the Saints still would have had the advantage. They've protected Brees all year, and beat the Minnesota DLine (arguably the NFL's best) handily both in pass protection and run blocking. The big guys did the same last night.

DLine: Advantage Colts, but only in comparison to the Saints D-Line, for reasons stated above.

Linebackers: Advantage Saints. Athletic, quick, and hard-hitting linebackers are the core of the Saints defense. Jonathan Vilma is brilliant at quarterbacking the defense, and showed it last night with disrupting the pass play to Collie. How many middle linebackers could have recognized the play like that, then got back in coverage to knock it away? Junior Seau comes to mind. . .

Secondary: Advantage Saints, but barely. The right balance of age and youthful athleticism. If Bob Sanders had been in, things may have been a lot different. I think he is the heart of the Colts secondary like Vilma is the heart of the Saints defense.

Special Teams: Advantage Saints, but only due to the signing of Matt Stover as the Colts FG kicker. Other aspects of special teams are dead even.

My point is this: these teams were very, very, evenly matched coming in. I don't think that either team was clearly "better" than the other, and both beat some of the best teams in the NFL to get to that game. The small, marginal advantages that the Saints enjoyed ended up playing directly into Indy's weaknesses, and led to the win.

With Indy, if a defense can pull the magic rabbit out of their hat and actually disrupt Peyton Manning, they will win. He is the key to Indy winning or losing. If the Saints D had not started creeping up on his patterns and reads, he wouldn't have started missing throws - which led to him staring down Reggie Wayne on the interception. Just my :2cents:

I definitely chose my words wrong, you're very right. The Colts are not the best team by far, but I would still have to say they are. I'm a Broncos fan and hate the Colts at times but I just get this feeling about Manning, being able to bring them to the Super Bowl with such a terrible running game just amazes me. But the beauty of this sport is that being a better team really only matters in getting to the Super Bowl. The Colts and Saints have been the best 2 teams this entire season, and that I can say by far :wink:

. The AFC didn't stand a chance against Manning, and the NFC had some fight in them but ultimately we saw the Saints going to the Super Bowl since week 6. Once they got to the Super Bowl, it's anyone's game. Fueled by a great tricky little coach and players the Saints deserved to win. Well you could say both teams do. Although the Colts have had a great team before Caldwell, bringing in a rookie coach is always a daunting task. I'm happy for the Saints... Just kind of wish their players hadn't talked to much smack these past couple of weeks, but they backed it up.

Overall great game, even though I missed a lot cause of :5SHOTS:

I hear you, and I appreciate your disagreement. I like a board, and a poster-to-poster conversation, where two can disagree in a civil manner.

I think this Super Bowl was not really about the winning team deserving to win, no matter how much hype has been made about destiny, NOLA coming back, etc. I think this Super Bowl was one of those rare championship games where the team that won the game, did simply that - they played head-to-head against the other best team in the nation, and they played it and won it. If they thought they deserved it, they wouldn't have won it, you know what I mean?

Who's we? You're a 'wings fan. Yeah Hossa hasn't won a cup with the last two teams he played on either. Huet is having a good year overall and with Niemi also between the posts, real 'Hawks fans have faith in them both. Oh and as for Hossa, he's skating better this year than he ever has. According to the NHL sports writer's anyway.
