so i can't keep the secret any longer... i ordered the fastman throttle body, i also ordered new PIAA sporza silicon wipers since mine are basically shot formt he winter ( i had rain-x latitudes)... i also ordered something called zmax, which is a fluid additive... so we'll see how everything goes... also got my new AEM cone filter today, so now i got two, easier to maintain now since i can take the dirty one off n clean it but i can still have the other one on... also got a drylock cover ( made by AEM) for it... lets air in but keeps water out... plus hels filter out some of the big stuff in the air keeping the filter cleaner...

Had the most enjoyable weekend day I've had in awhile this past Saturday. I got to spend it not working and spent it with my dad working on the Jeep:

First, installed a 3 D-cell LED Maglight below the driver's seat:
Image

Then, removed the front grill .....looking around and exploring  ......
Image

Then test-fit the tow-hitch mounted cargo carrier I had bought to help haul 5 people's worth of stuff out to Moab in April:
Image

Then, installed a CB antenna mount (firestik door jam) at the rear driver's side tail light:
Image
If I can get time in the next couple weeks, I'd like to do a little "how to" for our KK Tech Section.
Image

Then, working with a scrap piece of aluminum, made and attached a CB handset clip just to the right of the instrument cluster:

...wish every weekend could be filled with relaxing Jeep work and spending quality time with my dad (when we're both in town) :D .

Thanks MtnLuvr regarding the write-up. I have been planning on the same for months and just haven't found the time.

I like it. I bought those same clips and planned to mount mine in the same place. How convenient is your access to it? Can you pull it out with the door closed? I want to be able to pull it out quickly if need be.

I like the Maglight mounted there. If you use your seat raised, then you'd have even more room than I do. It is a superconvienent location and you can remove it while sitting in the driver's seat with the door closed (although I'm not sure if you could if you faced the flashlight toward the back of the vehicle). As for pulling it out quickly, well you certainly can if the KK door is open (whether you're seated in the seat or standing outside), but I wouldn't say you could remove it "quickly if need be" (like for self defense or something) while seated with the door closed. Hope that helps.

Installed dual KJ front tow hooks on my KK today during lunch break... Didn't have to remove bumper (thanks to a previous write up I read on here). Also finally got around to changing the rear wiper blade...

I washed my KK for the first time today (I've had it a month and a half). I wash my TJ once a year whether it needs it or not. I think it looks better dirty. :goink:

I think I'll be washing the KK more often though. The reason I washed it today was that I was going to be working under it and I didn't want dirt falling in my face every time I touched something.

I installed a front tow hook on the passenger side. I decided not to install the 2 hooks like some others have done. It isn't recommended for the KK because of some hoses on the drivers side that are close to where the hook goes but I know it works (I read the great how to that SkinInc69 did at http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=46929). I just decided 1 is enough since I may replace the bumber someday with one that has tow points on it (besides, it is cheaper to buy 1 so I can buy something else too :) ).

One thing I will say, it is different on 2009 and 2010 KKs because of the extra lower grill piece on the newer models. The instructions that come with the skid plate are for KKs without the grill piece. The grill is nice but it makes installing the tow hook a lot more difficut if you don't want to take the bumper off. If it wasn't for that grill piece, I could have done it in a few minutes like others have done. As it is, it took a lot longer because of the restricted access you have to the area where the tow hook is attached. I took pictures while I did it so if they came out, I'll post a how to that concentrates on the difference in the installation if you have that extra grill piece (if you wonder what grill piece I'm talking about, see the link above and look for a post by wingnuts that talks about the grill piece).

I also installed my trasfer case skid plate. I haven't noticed a how to on that so I'll post my pictures and a write up soon. It was pretty easy and didn't take very long at all. I still have the other 3 skid plates to install when I get around to it. I think I'm going to hold off on the one that covers the engine until I decide if I am going to relocate my oil filter (so I don't bust my knuckles every time I change it :furious:).

Today was the first time I have taken a wrench to my KK. It felt good!
