Pot holes everywhere these days.

Here in the backwoods of New England, melting snow and ice on the roads create deep pot holes.

The other day while traveling at 30 MPH I hit one so hard that it caused the jeep to bottom out with such force that I heard it hit metal on metal. This is not normal I thought.

What have you all done to improve the ride?

Which shocks did you use to replace the originals with?

Do the springs need to be updated or replaced?

Suggestions and or advice please.

Koni 5 way adjustables is what I use. I am still looking for springs and willl probably go with H&R when I do. H&R Kit 29203-1

Bilsteins can be had for a lot less, but there has been a problem with premature failure on the CRD which we hope to have sorted out in a few weeks. At that time, I'll have a complete new set that I will be selling for under $300. (I fully expect this to be completely resolved and that I will continue to use Bilsteins as I have for 36 years on every vehicle of mine for which they are available.)

Years ago, one guy filled the pot holes with Horse Manure, Worked great :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL: :ROTFL:
With all the Municipal Budget Cuts and lay offs every where, look for more pot holes until the economy turns around.

Avoid Monroe

I don't know what to recommend on the KJ, but I have had good luck with KYB, KONI, Bilstein in the past.
When I have to go for it, I will lean toward the performance brands.

OME Springs/Shocks/Struts, although the ride isn't really softer, IMO, it handles the road alot better.

I read where some members have swapped out their original springs.

Do you all think that the springs should also be swapped along with the new shocks?
