Got some new tires: Cooper Discoverer ATR 235/70/R16. A HUGE improvement over the stock tires, especially in the snow.

I took the Jeep in to the dealership for some transmission issues I am having. She shudders from 1st to 2nd from a cold start and shifts rough all-around. I brought in copies of the 3 transmission related TSBs I was able to find and also asked if they would update the MyGig for me. When I went to pick it up, the tech had only performed 18-027-08. I am not sure if he did the old TSB or the revised version. They also said that my MyGig software v.9.8 is highest version. I disagreed (v. 2.043 is the most recent), but they promised not to void my warranty if I update it myself. Regardless, the transmission issues remain so she'll be going back in overnight tmrw so they can hook her up to the computer cold.

I also decided to test drive a 2010 KK w/ SkySlider to compare wind noise while I was there. A very nice saleswoman, even though she knew I would not be buying a vehicle, went for a ride with me in both the 2010 KK and in my 2008 KK. The 2010's SkySlider did not have significant wind noise even at 85 mph. She then wanted to go for a ride in my Jeep so she could see what I am talking about when I say "wind noise" and she could not believe how loud my SkySlider was. I went back to the service manager with my "proof" that my wind noise is not characteristic of the roof and he still refuses to service the SkySlider or even go for a drive in my Jeep. My battle with the SkySlider (or SkyCrapper as Digger has accurately named it) continues.

On a more fun note, I found a vacant unplowed lot to play in yesterday  :pepper:

I am soooo tired of snow right now. There is nowhere else left to shovel it to! And now we're supposed to expect more tomorrow night.

Don't get me wrong, I love snow. But it does get annoying after a few weeks.

Also blew a headlight bulb, right when the big snow started rolling in (a few days ago). Doesn't matter when you've got yellow fogs to help! Now with the "emergency replacement" bulb in there (a $10 pos) it looks like my KK has a bruised eye... lol

Just a minute ago I ordered the t-case skid plate. ($67 @ eBay) Might as well start with the easy one.

Thanks MtnLuvr. I really enjoyed building up my TJ (my first build). I probably won't go as far with my KK since I still have the TJ but I definitely want to make some changes to customize it by adding protection and more capability. Heck, just the act of planning and doing it is almost as much fun as having it when you are done.

I'm curious... what mountain is that in your avatar? It looks vaguely familiar but I can't place it. I'm not sure if I've been there or just seen a similar picture before.

I use a snow blower and either blow it out into the street....or into the neighbor's yard. He's a jacka** anyways...

However, I'm working on a way to rig up the snow blower to my trailer hitch. I got tired of slipping and sliding on an icy driveway...and fighting the weather.

some new boxes came in over the last few days... let's see

aem dry flow filter ( a second one so it makes cleaning and changing easier)
aem dry lock filter cover( keeps the water out and lets me make my ram air bigger)
piaa super sporza wipers ( have a special spoiler to keep the wiper pressed against the windshield)
zmax fuel additive
zmax power steering additive
zmax trans additive
zmax engine oil additive
fastman throttle body

the aem filter and filter cover have already been installed
the wipers will be installed once the snow is gone cause i dont want to ruin them, good thing is they make replacement blades for only 6 bucks!
zmax will be done at next oil/fluid change
fastman will be installed once it warms up a bit

any one know the part number for the dome lights off hand ( i'm lazy and dont wanna look it up haha)

Isn't that the stuff that they took all the oil out of the Viper, and drove it around a track???

If so, I think you should test their gimmick... lol. Ohh please don't. I was kidding...

Save some money and return that stuff and get your money back,it does not work and can actually harm your PS and trans since ATF+4 does not mix well with other additives. And good oil does not need additional additives.

my question is, if addded will it hurt everything or just do nothing... some people really swear by this stuff and if the worst case scenario is it doesnt work... that's fine i won't purchase again ( i didnt actually my uncle did, and he is one of those people who swear by it). i've read all about the case against them that was in 2001 and other claims it was snake oil, but it's still sponsored by caroll shelby... could it really be that bad? anyone ever had bad results by mixing with the ATF and the PS F

Just because you don't agree with them does not mean it's okay to do it anyways that they said not to.

Do not add any additives to ATF+4,it will degrade it and then you got all kinds of problems, same with engine oil,or any good automotive oils.If that stuff worked and was that "amazing" it would be standard in everything already.

haha i get your point... no i do listen to chrysler for many things and i would not want to do anything to harm my truck... i do appreciate your opinion but i would like to see examples of there being problems with the ATF+4... just to clarify that it shouldnt be done at all. Ive never really seen any instances of people having a problem with it, all i've seen is claims that it is snakeoil, but no problems with it. Besides the snake oil claims ive heard nothing but good things.

Updated the MyGig today. I was hoping it would also update my navigation maps database, but the MyGig tells me to go to http://www.navteq.com to purchase nav updates. The update is $199.99 . Anybody know of a dramatically cheaper way to get the nav update?

:o I'm betting you've just seen a similar photo before. Hey, this may be a trivia question some day.....

It is Jenkins Mountain just West of the Continental Divide by Church Basin in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness in Colorado. Just another Colorado 13er in mid-September. This was taken back in 2005 during one of my (at least annually) solo backpacking trips. :CAMPING: Absolutely beautiful area and time of year - golden aspen, elk bugling all around, crisp evenings, rain and light snow up high at night, warm sunshiny days and not a soul around. This trip was a wonderful highlight to a year that had some pretty rough personal times. I tend to like to go off-trail (when backpacking) to really get out in the middle of nowhere, so if you find this valley on a topo map, you'll see there aren't any trails after heading East of trail 543 toward the lake shown just North of Jenkins Mountain.

By the way, that lake isn't there anymore (which has happened to me on multiple occassions when I bushwhack cross-country to go find some lake). I had planned to camp by it. Over enough time, many of these high country lakes, especially if they're not very deep and/or don't have a fairly steady amount of year-long run-off running into and out of them, can get filled up with enough silt to eventually turn first into a boggy area and then into a really flat meadow with a really slowly meandoring run-off steam snaking through it.
