Lads, i've had a engine check light on my V6 for many months now, and Jeep Service cannot fix it. Error code (cant remember number P0041 i think/// ) was for left bank heater circuit for the O2 sensors overcurrent. They have replaced the sensors twice, checked the wiring for a fault, now they are saying its the PCM that is actually faulty and they want me to pay $3000.00 Australian for a new one.. They say, I cant get a 2nd hand one as it has to be programmed to the VIN of the car, I cant see (and cant tell if they are telling the truth about any of this) .

Is it possible to reprogam a second hand unit to the VIN of my car?????. Is there a way to fix this without all the expense. I mean the car is running fine, no apparent running issue, just the engine check light.. I'm currently about to sell it, as I have just got a 2002 CRD, and am switching all my mods to it, but, I 'll never sell a car with an engine light on....

Any Guru's know about these O2 faults and other possible causes/fixes that dont involve the PCM???

You can re-wright the VIN's in the PCM's,of course the dealership can only do this.If yours was not a export KJ you could get a PCM here in the states for about $200 from a junkyard,$600 from the delaership(not including any programming needed).

Man, That astounds me, 600 there... 3000 here.... I'll speak with them, they did say they were going to try and get me "Special " pricing, but still dont think that will come close. I'll also ask again about a second hand unit..

Have you heard of these things failing before????
