Sounds kind if fishy. Might be a good question for the Tech Section. Surely they have had to reflash these things from time to time.

I've had problems with O2 sensors for ~ 8 months now the CEL would go on and the ESP light would flash at the same time. The local jeep dealer could never seems to diagnose what the problem was.
The only effect on the car was occasional delay in acceleration. At one stage they said the catalytic converters were stuffed and replaced them under warranty. The problem went away for a month then came back. then this week it finally completely cacks it and the car runs like a dog. Jerky accelaration and engine sounds like the timing is out. I took it back to the dealer and they now say the o2 sensors need replacement. Fortunately for me even though it's now out of warranty Jeep is coming to the party to pay for the replacement sensors as I reported the problem back when it was under warranty.

Chris I can't believe the issues that you are having with your 04 KJ. No wonder you're frustrated with it :furious:

Thats a worry... I did originally have O2 sensor hassles in the first few months, but the only thing I knoticed was a slightly ruff idle, car still ran fine..Kinda sounds like a bit more than just O2 sensors there... :(

I have the V6 back again, still have the engine light on, waiting on a decission about the PCM..It does run well, just has the light on.. I'll actually miss it a bit.

Anyone know how to pull out all the windows in these things, I'm almost thinking of that instead of paying $400.00 for windo tinting, esp if I have to pay thousands to fix a car that I'm selling, need to tighten the belt another 4 notches :grim:

I'd forget about pulling out the windows its just too likely to result in more heartache (scratched tint, broken windows, torn moldings, etc) & where does it stop? :banghead:

I'm more frustrated with Chrysler than the Jeep.
I just wish it had a bigger boot and a bigger fuel tank and.........
Nah its cool just the way it is.

Thats how it started with me an occasional rough idle now it's rough all the time.
It gets new sensors tomorrow so will see if it fixes it.

Bloody Global Warming, let's get Kevin Rudd on to this as its an obvious sign that CO2 is rising and oxygen levels are dropping across the planet - that might explain my headaches :banghead:

I had to replace my sensors a couple of months ago, one front and one rear had gone south, got all four from RockAuto at my door for a tad over two hundred bucks, runs sweet as.. now.
Wonder if we really need heated sensors in our climate anyway???? I would have thought the exhaust gasses does enough heating within a few seconds of starting up.................
I'm driving the J10 more lately, trying to fight off the next ice age.

And so it begins...

I'm going to start the gut wrenching dissassembly of the mighty KJ known as "The Belafone".. I'm a bit sad. If anyone is hanging aboot and whats to pay some last resects to him your quite welcome to pop on by. I'm hoping to get all the electrical stuff out, ie, duel battery, spotlights, UHF, and the extra wiring I put in to run it all, as well as remove the new transmission cooler. Remove roof racks, Bullbar(might need a hand for that), and all 4 skid plates ( the fuel skid will be fun) I haven't decided whether or not to keep the towbar.. I'll think about that. Hoping to get all the flares off as well so as I can prep them for painting and the rear bumper and tyre holder.

I'm going to have a quiet sit now......

Move the towbar over - diesels are born to tow (and its your rear recovery point).

The old Belafonte isn't half what he used to be after the weekend, A major strip down occured. Gone is the Duel battery system and wiring, gone the UHF, gone the Spotlights and wiring, Gone the roof rack and crossrails, gone engine, transmission, transfer case and fuel tank skids, Gone the towbar. Gone is the Bullbar, gone are all the Flares, the front wheel well plastic liners and the complete rear bumper. I also pulled out that big Transmission cooler I put in a few weeks ago. Its a bit sad.

This week I'll atempt to get the flares painted Stone white to match the CRD in readiness for the big "switch over all the flares and front and rear bars . I'll remove the front plastic liners from the CRD and get the pinch weld flatterned, plus I'll try to get the upper control arm pockets openned up a little for the Als A-arms. I'll remove the suspension and the A-arms from the V6, and replace the rear boomerang with my spare one, and keep the good one as a spare for the CRD. Plus I'll start wiring in all the duel battery and UHF and spotlights into the CRD.

So Its started, I have a few pics to put up, I'll do that tonite when I's gets home.

Gotta get my camera out to upload pics.. Been busy downstairs.

I've finished undercoating the flares tonite, now they are sanded and primed. I've found that Autobarn are able to mix the actual paint colour code for me, in spray cans.. 29.00 each can tho... should get away with three cans. I'll get them tommorrow. So with luck, and weather permitting, I may....MAY,,,,, be changing over all the flares and bumpers this weekend. Just need a big arse drill and drill bit to drill the mount holes in the frame for the ARB bar.

WHOA WHOA WHOA there Big Doggie, I dont remember saying that???????.I was referring to the skid plates...

If I gets the Flares painted Tonite/Friday, I hope I can put on the flares, rear bumper and Bullbar on B2 this weekend. As well as switch the Towbars (as the old one on the CRD does not look to be as strong construction as the one I pulled off B1.) as well as put on the feul tank skid.

Anyone want a big arse Transmission cooler for their auto. I guarantee it works.

Yes ...it's a bit Borrr..ring  :|
So I've ordered a new /replacement radiator as the original has a small crack in the top L/H tank which at present slowly bleeds water. Free delivery from Sydney to Dannys' workshop. Hopefully it will be delivered & waiting for him Monday morning after his week-end at Rover Park
