:o I'm betting you've just seen a similar photo before. Hey, this may be a trivia question some day.....

It is Jenkins Mountain just West of the Continental Divide by Church Basin in the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness in Colorado. Just another Colorado 13er in mid-September. This was taken back in 2005 during one of my (at least annually) solo backpacking trips. :CAMPING: Absolutely beautiful area and time of year - golden aspen, elk bugling all around, crisp evenings, rain and light snow up high at night, warm sunshiny days and not a soul around. This trip was a wonderful highlight to a year that had some pretty rough personal times. I tend to like to go off-trail (when backpacking) to really get out in the middle of nowhere, so if you find this valley on a topo map, you'll see there aren't any trails after heading East of trail 543 toward the lake shown just North of Jenkins Mountain.

By the way, that lake isn't there anymore (which has happened to me on multiple occassions when I bushwhack cross-country to go find some lake). I had planned to camp by it. Over enough time, many of these high country lakes, especially if they're not very deep and/or don't have a fairly steady amount of year-long run-off running into and out of them, can get filled up with enough silt to eventually turn first into a boggy area and then into a really flat meadow with a really slowly meandoring run-off steam snaking through it.

Thanks for the reply!

Hmmm. I don't recognize the name but I have been in the area of the Collegiate Peaks near Buena Vista, St. Elmo and Twin Lakes a lot (I think it's about a two hour drive from where I live and it has some of the best trails around). I've done a lot of trails in that area. I'll have to look at a map and find this mountain and see how close I have been to it. From your note, it sounds more remote than the trails though.

You are right... the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness area is really beautiful. I'm with you on the quiet solo time in beautiful wilderness. I do more of it these days in my Jeep than backpacking. It's something you just have to experience to understand.

Curious to see what, if any, change in towing stability. Camping trailer (2800lbs) is still burried under snow.

Went to the stealership and did the oil change/tire rotation. Then went and invested in some Bosch Icon wiper blades.

Took off my temporary tags and put on the permanent ones. Based on what I had to pay at the DMV (with all of the taxes), the plates must be made of gold.

Thanks. However it's done, the KK looks a whole lot better once you get a little more daylight under it......of course, a little more mud under it is nice too! :D

K, I think you need to do a how-to write up and have that posted in the tech forum. Because even sans-nudey bar, I still can't manage to spend under $50. (On a side note: Wednesday night is amateur night!)

well for one you gotta have friends that like to spend money, we do plenty of that. i tend to hit on cougars and get free drinks from random people haha. i have also never bought a girl a drink, unless we know em and theyre with us. if a girl ask for a drink i usually turn it on them to get me a drink first and then i talk to other girls after getting my drink so i dont have to buy them one lol.

sad thing is i could spend $50 a night buying everybodys drinks back home. iowa is so much cheaper then florida. a normal night here is over 100 if we dont go to a strip club :x

 :5SHOTS: :ROTFL: Hilarious...I like your style. Having to dig through last night's pants pockets and add up reciepts in the morning sucks, unless they only total $50...congrats. This got me reminiscing of darker days...

The Morning After: Downfalls of a Night Out: :5SHOTS:

1. Having no recollection of the last few hours of the night and having to ask around trying to figure out what the hell you did last night only to find that your friends are equally baffled.
2. Having to figure out where you are and leave immediately upon waking for fear the fat chick you woke up next to might eat you.
3. Having to pray you don't sh*t your pants in transit.
4. Having to make up stories about why your nose is broken and your shirt is bloody, because you don't have a clue. :dizzy:
5. Having everyone at Bob Evans glare at you because you forgot wash off the erotic art your friends drew all over your face with permanent marker. :|
6. Being able to relate to the guy in Casino that had his head in a vice.
7. Remembering that you ate White Castle only because your sh*t smells just like it. :SOMBRERO:
8. Having to work. :banghead:

Zach Galifianakis has some of the best hangover moments; waking up with a bear licking his balls in Out Cold or finding the tiger in the bathroom in The Hangover. That whole scene when they wake up in the hotel room in The Hangover is priceless if you are able to relate to how they are feeling.

These are just a few of the downfalls of partying too hard and is in no way a complete list. I woke up in some strange situations in college and have a fair amount of drunk stories that I probably shouldn't be sharing on a Jeep forum, but this post got me laughing. If I've offended anyone, I am sorry. I'd love to hear some more funny "morning after" stories though.

There are, of course, many more horrible and dangerous things that result from drinking excessively. The most horrible way to wake up would obviously be handcuffed to a hospital bed or not to wake up at all. Many lives are destroyed by irresponsible people that drink and get behind the wheel. I am not advocating excessive or irresponsible drinking and I certainly don't codone driving under the influence.
That being said, party on! :5SHOTS:  :pepper:  :ROTFL:
