Hi All,

New to the board. Bought my dad's '02 KJ recently. The struts for the hood are completely shot and the ones on the rear glass are on their way. I imagine some of you have experienced the same issue. Any comments or suggestions on the best brand to buy or retailer to buy from? I've see Omix, Stabilus, Strongarm brands on Amazon.

Thanks in advance for the help...

JC

I just bought a set at Advance Auto. I think they were about $10 a piece. Got tired of the wooden pole holding open my hood.

I bought struts for the hood and rear window for my 02 from a store on eBay. Don't recall price but it wasn't bad. Let me tell you, don't take chances with the hood struts. If they're old, replace them. That hood is HEAVY. I put off replacing mine but one good thump on the back of my head was all it took. Dang near knocked me out.

About 2yrs ago I got a set off a faily new Liberty I found at the junk yard. I will probably replace mine before the end of summer. My hood struts are the ones that are shot.

Rockauto has the window struts. I just replaced mine a few weeks ago. Good prices and fast shipping.

I should be replacing the hood struts soon, I'm noticing that I have to lift it an extra 3-4 inches once they are maxed out and then i lift it and it drops back down slowly
