I've run Lucas products without any issues either, but I have seen problems when people put their thick additives in FIRST then the oil and it doesn't drain down fast enough. If I use them I put 3 qts in then the HEATED additive and top it off with the remaining oil. I believe Lucas would have had a hard time becoming such a large, highly-endorsed company if their products could be proven to damage vehicles, though I agree that they are situational and not a part of every oil change. I cannot keep Z-Max on the shelf and it is up to 40.00 for the 2 product set. And when my wife's Liberty rolled 80k I did a flush and switched her from Valvoline's synthetic blend to MaxLife with a 6-cyl can of Restore, but no additives since. I just think like everything else, there's a time and a place.
I put 2 qts. of regular oil in then the lucas then 2 more qts of regular oil hoping the 2 qts of regular oil would force the lucas down in there quicker.

Last oil cange 2700 miles ago at dealer lot. How did that oil look?
I would suspect the dealer was running heavy oil or all Lucas to quiet an existing knock.
I hope that is not the case but they can be pretty dirty.
If a vehicle I purchased started knocking after the first oil change with the proper lube I would be back there raising He!!
Sorry, I probably wasn't very clear. This is the second time I've changed it, it's been 2700 miles between the first time and this time. It was just under 3000 before I changed it the first time. After the first time I changed it the oil was fairly dirty but no more than is to be expected for a vehicle over 100,000 miles. Had it started knocking after the first time, I probably would have taken it back even though it was about a three and a half hour drive.
