My 2007 Has been doing it since day one when I bought it (16 miles). Just have to mind your gallons.. There was a post about waiting thirty seconds or so before turning the engine off, and it was supposed to "fix" this issue.. doesn't work for me..

Just in case someone hasn't found this TSB yet, here ya go http://www.wkjeeps.com/misc/LX/TSB/TSB_1400109a.pdf

It's in a few different forums around the web, but since it took me hours of searching for a solution I'll spread the knowledge. Also, the tsb says to try idling in park for 60 seconds not 30 :P but that doesn't seem to work either. At first I had some success turning the ignition off and the back to run without starting the car, just to get the fuel pump to re-prime. That took care of the problem entirely for about 10 fill ups after that it was just as bad :banghead:

Just bought a 2006 KJ with about 24,000 miles on it, and have yet to successfully fill my tank without spilling. I always stay at the pump and so I don't use the automatic notches on the pump, so that's not the problem.

As far as I can tell, the problem stems from the lack of a one-way valve in the filler neck. Most cars I've ever driven have a fairly obviously "flap" on the filler neck that is pushed open when you put the nozzle into the vehicle, but my Liberty doesn't, you can basically look right down into the gas tank.

I haven't had problems with any "squirting" it's just once the pump shuts off, I usually get a bit that comes back, almost like its being forced up by back pressure or something. If anyone finds a workable solution other than having to completely babysit your fuel pump, I'd be interested in hearing it.

Just re-fuel slower. Then it won't happen.
Ours hasn't overflowed once in the last five years and eight and a half month.

Had this problem in my '02 gas Liberty.... turned out to be an evap hose issue. There can be issues with the evap lines deteriorating and they need replacement. Just my two cents.
