I don't think that is an option. However, they CAN program it to never lock the doors automatically. So when you get in your Jeep shift to drive and take off, the doors will all remain unlocked (except the rear gate). I had them do that to mine. Auto door locks SUCK. Technician hooked up his computer thingie and did mine in 30 seconds for free.

For 05 with the evic you can program it to unlock all doors when the drivers door is opened.

I read that, my only thought is that if it can be done with the evic then it must be an option that can be programmed some other way

I was told the same thing by my dealer some time ago. Apparently, there is a module that is INSIDE the EVIC that controls this (unlock on exit), so without the EVIC, it can't be done. At least that is how it was explained to me.

Hope this helps!

Your dealer is wrong. I have an EVIC that I have never mounted, but I HAVE used it to reprogram the Door Lock behavior, and once programmed you do NOT need the EVIC. My 2004 has no EVIC mounted, but all the doors unlock whenevere the Drivers door is opened.

Maybe I worded it wrong (it was a couple of years ago), but you kind of proved my point. You NEED the EVIC to set this up. It cannot be set using the handheld computer (I've seen all of the options, and it's not there). As far as disconnecting the EVIC after the changes are made, I guess it is possible. Either way, without the EVIC, it's not going to happen.

Jelohead - Sorry, but your dealer is right. I can't believe I just said that. I believe they can program it for you at the service bay to unlock all on DRIVER's door open, but it cannot be programmed to unlock all upon open of any other door, just driver's. I've been looking into that too (would be MIGHTY handy), but it doesn't seem to be possible. Sorry.

Oh, I misread your first post. Sorry. I thought you wanted it to happen when any door was open as opposed to just the driver's door. I guess I read it that way 'cause that's what I dream of. If you just want the driver's door to unlock them all and your service tech is telling you it can't happen, I'd go to another dealer and get a second opinion. Can't hurt (shrug).

My uncle "fixed" the seat belt chime in his old VW Rabbit by plugging the seat belt in, then cutting off the strap and just leaving the metal parts put together. Cracked me up. Things stayed that way for the life of that car.

I'm more of a seat-belt freak. I have to physically restrain myself from buckling the seatbelt just to shuffle cars in the driveway. But I'd be interested anyway...How'd you disable the KJ seatbelt chime?

i think i will get a "second opinion" regarding the locks. as for the seatbelt chime, a. the instructions are in the owners manual, b. there is a thread out there somewhere on how it's done. really easy, i use my belts all the time, except when shuffling cars, etc., so having the chime disabled is great!
