Hi, sorry for posting this if this is already somewhere else (I took a look around).

I don't have the money for a Frankenlift II, especially with new tires in the future. I love my CRD but it is being mandated to go places that are a bit too tough for it from the factory, due to climbing trips (mountaineering). The one other thing that makes me lose sleep is the fact that the oil filter hangs so low ( I also need a skid plate for that, I know).

So, perhaps someone can refer me to a reputable, solid source that could put together a kit that would be substantial without spending 1200 bucks. I should say that in no way do I mind a taut ride (my '99 Cherokee was awesome- I really liked the fact that it never wallowed all over the place- very well controlled and TAUT), and the stock suspension is either shot or it is just really soft from the factory (or perhaps the CRD makes it wallow more than usual). At any rate, I don't need a super plush ride.

So, dampers? Springs? Just use pucks to lift it up a couple of inches? Please give references. The LJ I sold this past year had ES 5000 Pro Comps and I was sorely disappointed. Not much better than the stock crap. Rancho? Bilstein? And do I just take the springs offered for lift from, say, Skyjacker for a generic KY? Or do I need someone who would make specific CRD springs?

Lastly, what parts are necessary and other extraneous? I will say that this is only for rocky decomissioned forest roads, and for crossing moderately deep streams. I won't be disconnecting sway bar ends and going wheelin' with this rig- I just want it to get to our objectives. Thanks for you help in advance.

Cheers,
Chad

Yeah, I understand that...but...like I said, I don't have 1200 bucks.

So, other alternatives?

I don't expect it to be 200 bucks, but I could handle 800. I just have to make room for the tires, and I need some skidplates too.

Mostly, I need to fit in some tires. So, other options? Piecing together a kit?

Ah, I see. So, it's really an 800 dollar kit, just put together for you and therefore more $$.

Thanks, I'll give them a call.

If anyone else has other ideas, I'm still open, but it seems like the Frankenlift is the preferred one by far.

Thanks everyone!

Chad

My $50 used set of spacers takes me any place I want to go on the trail. But I realize that some people feel they need new springs.

What ever you do stay away from Skyjacker. I'm in the process of replacing the front springs with OME 790's the Skyjackers sagged in just one year. They can't handle the weight, Ive even herd that gas Libertys on the Skyjacker sag as well.

The new Skyjacker coils will sag,the older ones wouldn't.The older ones where rated at about 450lbs or so till they got to many complaints about a stiff ride and went to 300lbs.
