Well alrighty then! You just want to come and do it? j/k sort of!
Thanks for the very detailed instructions. That sounds easy enough

. While I am mechanically inclined and am not afraid to dive right in, I'm also just a little hesitant to dive into something like this because I've never done it before... With having the shop manual it makes MOST things easier that I don't know, but with things that I'm really new to (like this) There isn't quite enough. In fact in all the vehicles I've owned over the years, I've never HAD to dive into this (axle/ driveline), so my knowledge and experience in this area is limited. I also am fairly detailed oriented (job hazard if you will) and thus I like to make sure to have everything lined up and figured out BEFORE I tear something apart. There are always surprises, but you are less likely to break or damage something in the process (which you have very nicely helped to point out with your various steps) when you know what you are getting into. So Thank you again for the info.
I have a mechanic friend (unfortunately lives too far away to help) who gave me similar instructions, albeit, MUCH less detailed... I appreciate the thorough response, he also recommended extreme caution and care and was pretty sure the seal was all that needed to be replaced and thought as well that it could be done like this. If and when I end up tackling this, I know for SURE that I will be printing these off and and have them duct taped to the underside of the car as I'm working on it!
Yes, I do know how to use a computer and I have been getting a lot of my parts for this car over the last couple years from a online/ catalog company called MAC's Antique Auto parts and they specialize in FORDs. Then there are a few things I can get from the various local auto parts stores, but as you mentioned, their knowledge varies from ind to ind. and store to store

I really confused some kid when he couldn't find it in the computer he ran around lost and thinking they didn't carry parts for cars older than 1962 (I have a 61'). I had to encourage him to look for a book (in my head I was saying, you know the thing with the pages in it

) Eventually we found the couple dollar part I was looking for. Even though MAC's carries a lot, they still sometimes have gaps in their inventory for this particular car (not many people fix up 4 door 61 Fords evidently

). Anyway, I've collected as many resources as I can (that I know of anyway) that deal with Classic Fords, but this particular model and engine are much harder to find stuff for than one year newer or older. I just keep adding as I can.
Again, thanks for your advice, it is much appreciated
