I ordered a trailmaster lift kit but have not recieved it yet. After finding this website, I thought it would be a good idea to get the opinions of other Liberty owners before I open the kit and put it on. It is supposed to be an all spring no block kit. What do you all think? The other option I was considering is the skyjacker. A prompt response would be appreciated because once I get the kit I will not be able to resist putting it on!!

I've never heard of a trailmaster lift for the KJ. Got a link to where you bought it?

I was wondering the samething. Go with the Frankenlift or the rusty's suspension lift. I really want the frankenlift but can't justify the extra $$$ when the rusty's lift will give me what I want. Hopefully get to order mine in 2 wks.

This one? http://www.4wheelonline.com/Products.as ... ctId=65382

Looks fishy. I highly doubt you'll get a full coil lift for only $214. Plus the lift that is pictured is not for a Liberty.

Let us know what you end up getting in the mail. I will be very intersted to see if it looks anything like that.

Looks like its just springs, its only $213. I dont see any problem in that, it says its only 2" of lift so you shouldnt have any problems with the rear shocks, you may need some new front struts though. I would get ome or rustys front struts and rancho rsx rear shocks if you want more flex in the rear. The stock rear shocks would be fine though for a 2" lift.

Here it is for everyone to look at. That picture is not all the parts that come with it. I believe it only comes with springs.

I agree with you. I might be JUST the springs, but not shocks and struts. That pic shows 4 shocks, control arms, swaybar links, etc. We know that isn't for the Liberty.

Sheza,

That price is on Par with Rusty's springs, Better price.

I called them and they said: "its 4 springs only, pic don't represent the product as stated on the page"

Page says: "All Pictures Do Not Necessarily Represent What Comes In The Specific Kit That You Order"

Still a good price.

Keep us informed of what you get. Takes some pics of the contents.

Ok, so at risk of sounding like a complete idiot...from what I gather, I can use my stock rear shocks, but may need to buy new front struts? I am not experienced with lifting vehicles at all, this is a learn as you go thing for me. Anything else I might need to buy? Why is it called a kit if I have to buy more stuff?? lol. I really tried to do my research but obviously I barely scraped the top here.

You ain't an idiot. If you are running "stock" shocks now. Throw them in the trash. They are not good at all and when you raise the center of gravity you really want a better shock/strut.

If you have new shocks/struts but are "Stock length" they will still work with a little limitation.

You won't believe how much better the vehicle rides and handles with good shocks/struts.

Just get them Ranchos a lot of folks are running and you'll be fine.

Haha, thats funny. As said, youre not an idiot ShezaJeeperl. This is a mild lift and as you said you do not need new rear shocks, front struts should be gotten for handling and ride. If you are short on money its up to you on the rear shocks, it will make it ride better and flex alot more.

Sheza,

It won't take you long to figure out I'm the only "Idiot" on here.

I'm not gonna steer you wrong.

Some things, some folks, have learned the hard way:

Don't EVER mix shock types, Spring rates, or tires, on an "on-road" vehicle. Doing that can severely adversely effect the breaking point and control in a Roll, braking, sliding on Ice, rain, or dry pavement when avoiding an obstacle.

We can takeup a collection for you to keep all of your componets the same if you are short on $$

I have the 4-Wheel Drive Hardware 2" Lift, came with 4 springs, New rear shocks, Front strut relocators, have it on 2 years no problems. It's the most reasonably priced suspension lift and is complete. If your getting just 4 springs it isn't going to cut it! Joe 8)

So I was checking out shocks and struts for my KJ, but I am having a problem finding which ones I need to get. I know that I need the same brand for both, right? I can find shocks, and I can find struts, but I have yet to locate both in the same brand. I am sure that I am just searching wrong, so can anyone shed some light on this? Recommendations on brands and models would be much appreciated!

You do not need the same brand on front and rear.

If you go to all J products, they have great stuff for your KJ http://www.boulderbars.com
If you need sliders or bumpers, check out the 4x4 thread for upcoming Rock Lizard Fabrications stuff!

Maybe I'm just lucky, but I still have my original stock struts up front, no problems so far. I've had my KJ almost 5 years (it will be 5 years this June), and I've been lifted now for over 2 years, with some pretty aggressive 4-wheeling.

Still, if you have the front suspension apart to install the lift, you may as well install new struts. And the rear shocks are cheap.

Rancho part #s:
- Front struts: 17505
- Rear shocks: 17004

See my KJ Links and Parts site (link below) for some pricing.

the1jferg is right. Get some new shocks/struts. I have Ranchos on mine and they are great.
