I met Keith on his way home this morning and he flashed the eco tune on the jeep. Must say he knows what is going on inside this little monster. Did not take long at all and he made sure all my questions where answered and he even went for a ride with me to make sure that I was a satisfied customer. I am!!

Before we parted company he took me for a ride in the Silver "GDE" beast with the new turbo, Turbo tune, and a trans program they are working on. WOW that thing moved and was VERY smooth through all 5 gears! You could really hear the turbo, sounded like a big rig.

After the power show he explained the new trans tune they are working on, had the TC locked @ 40MPH ~1400 RPM and accelerated to 65 without unlocking, it was impressive!!! Truly the diesel liberty DC should have offered.

Keep up the good work GDE!!!

I feel so cheap. He took me on the same ride today too. I met him to get my tune.

That turbo package is pretty sweet. When my turbo poops I'll be looking seriously at his option. It's only been 6 hours since my Eco was put in, but I'm pretty happy. I don't think I gained any MPG on the way home though because I floored it at every light. It coasts way better though, so I can see how it will improve economy. If I did the math right, I figure it will take 15-20K miles to pay for itself.

Hello all,

I'm a new CRD owner...I've been lurking around the boards as a guest trying to learn about this new 2 me beast. I just got the GDE eco tune, did the EHM, cleaned the MAP sensor, replaced the fuel filter housing and the alternator. Anyway, today I noticed a red light coming from under the dash and discovered a power module from SPdiesel. Is anyone here familiar with these products? What is it doing to my jeep and should I keep it or will it interfere with the Eco tune?

Thanks to everyone here, I've learned a lot from all of you.

SP Diesel makes several different boxes, I have a SP box 1"x2"x1/2" thick, four lights on the front with "A" & "B" on the center two lights and a small button. This is a timer box which allows the engine to run after turning off the Key to allow the turbo to cool. The performace boxes are a bit larger on other rigs so i would assume that they are the same, as i recall, they are about 2"x4"x3/4"thick, a performace box "stacked" with the GDE, Could be fun but the life of the stock converter is going to be shorter. It may have a serial number on it, you can call SP for some info.

the timer box wires are going to attached to the wiring harness under the cover on the stearing wheel. A performace box will most likely go the engine bay through the firewall and connect to the boost sensor, fuel pressure sensor etc. Some performace boxes connect to the OBD connection

FineDining,

We would recommend removing the SPdiesel box as it will increase the fuel pressure beyond the design limits of the engine when stacked with any of our tunes. This could shorten the life span of the fuel pump, rail and or fuel pressure sensors. It will also not do you any favors in terms of fuel economy. Thanks, GDE

Yes,
Boost Boxes can blow the lid on things.
It has been rumored that gmctd while on a Wild Wimmin Expedition(WWE) was blown apart by a box or boxes stacked with a ECU flash.

I am so in like Flynn on that.

Really? I heard that he tried stacking while on a WWE in Cleveland and was crushed to death because diesel power (with it's resultant head rush) and hooking up with "stackers" at a chubby convention just does NOT mix.

I am thinking, will the stock TC be able to hold up to a reflashed TCM, or will we have to get the Euro TC?

GDE

O.k. I'll take it off ASAP. Thanks for your help. I'm enjoying the tune. Jeep seems to run more smoothly, more even acceleration. Hard to tell exactly what has changed because I made so many improvements at once. It coasts much better also.

Thanks

FineDining

Last question, Jeep came w/ a KN air filter. Does that need to go also?

I'd recommend you replace the K&N filter with an Amsoil Ea Filter. Good for 100,000 miles with only vacuum cleaning every 15k and, unlike K&N, no mess!

OK, MR. GDE tune - what *was* you MPG and were are you now?

I'm impressed with the wide variation from CRD to CRD. I talked to a '05 CRD owner and he said he was getting 28-35 MPG. So far I've been averaging 21 with mostly town driving. The two highway trips, no better than 24 MPG. Seriously considering the GRE upgrade if I can start to see the 30+ some report. Had my computer flashed to the latest FW. No real change to MPG. Sigh....

It all depends on how you drive it. With the GDE Eco Tune, 60mph nets me ~35mpg, 70mph = ~32mpg, 75mph = ~29mpg

X2, the average driver is constantly do the "Two Pedal" Accelerate, come to turn, brake, accelerate, come to turn brake............

When I drive, and I dont even think about economy, I let off the accelerator and anticipate my next turn or the stop sign, or traffic light up ahead. I don't do alot of braking. I do it for the smooth ride, and the feeling of being in control, not to mention the wear on the brakes. And the idiot that is following me, is right on my tail doing the "Two Pedal" all pissed off at me :furious:

Yea, I tend to just ignore the idiot on my tail.... I have found that, since the tune, coasting is significantly improved, esp. in higher gears. If I can get her up to around 36mph and shift, I can coast 3-400 yards to the next light without dropping below 30 (by which time the light has changed). If I don't get her to shift, on the other hand, I might get 50 yards before I need to give her some pedal.

I'm sure that's totally normal, and I'm just now 'discovering' it, but I thought I'd share. :SOMBRERO:
