Anyone have ideas on store fishing poles on the libby? I thought about making or finding something that could mounting behind the spare tire to hold the rods or on the roof?. I dont mind having them inside the jeep but wanted a few more ideas.

i loaded 10 on my roof (i just have 2 2" square tubes across my rails) i put the neoprene handle under the rear tube and hooked 2 bunji together and snaked it from the front of the tube across the tops of the seat of the spools to the other rail to keep them back, then put another 2 bungi forward of the front tube to keep the tips from flailing

it works in a pinch, no damage to the roof or to the rods

if you have a rear hitch it's rather simple to put an insert in the rear with rod holders and strap the rods mid rod against the rear of the roof rails to prevent flailing

can do the same in the front with a front hitch or something similar with spare leaders attached to the tips and strung to the rails

Thanks. I'm thinking of making something up using PVC that clamps to the side roof rails (not have crossrails). Mount the holders in the back and have them stick towards the front. I don't think they would fly out.

Click the link in my sig for my cardomain site. There are some pictures of it on the first page to give you and idea. It is a real simple solution using PVC and some ubolts to mount to the basket. I used those swing nuts so I can take them off quickly at the end of the season.
