You all know that 60k is the change interval right? Both the belt and tensioner. It's cheaper to replace both every 60k then what can happen if one fails.

What kind of cost can someone expect to pay to have these replaced? Is it hard to do yourself?

1 ratchet with a stumpy extention to loosen tension to remove belt, 1 13mm? socket for the bolt

it's only held on with one bolt

maybe 15 minutes

i think i paid 55 bucks for the entire assembly from autozone, dont really remember

2003 - changed at 110,500 miles with little signs of wear and no noise or wobble in tensioner assembly. Better to be safe than sorry, right?

x2

-although not quite as obsessive as TJ - but for the Diesel it's 37,500 for Schedule B - so new belt at 37,500 - new belt and tensioner at 75,000.

It's way cheaper changing stuff in your driveway - than trying to find parts on the side of a highway in West Texas......

2003, about 49K on it when it started squealing so I replaced it.

2003, replaced both idler and tensioner pulleys at 95K-ish with second belt. Pulleys weren't making noise but I figured since I had a new 30 mile commute (one way) that it would be safer to replace them.

2005. Will probably be changed by the time I hit 70K as it is making a little noise on cold starts now at 69,200
