Hey all, I just bought the Mopar after market speed control kit for my '08 Sport 4x4, and was just curious if anyone else has attempted this operation. It looks fairly simple, just wondering if anyone has any out of the ordinary experiences. Thanks!

Wow, that must have been real hard. Probably took you longer to clean up then it did to do the install right?

Thanks for the reply!

Bull bars are nice because they offer a great place to mount aux lights, but you will loose your front tow hooks if you have them and the bull bar can not be used as a recovery point..

It could be done, but because of how "smart" people are, it will never happen. Reason being is some one would try and recover from the wrong spot on the bar causing it to fail or causing the front cross member to fail because of lateral forces being applied in the wrong direction.....

well my thought would be use a 3 inch tube... bend it up and close to the bttom where the hooks would do... have a place for the hooks to mount.... realisitcally if you produced the bullbar with a tab you could mount the bar and the hooks on top of the tab.... but again im no professional so that might now work

If its anything like the KJ super simple, installed one about a month ago, took longer to open the hood then install it almost. Kit comes from Chrysler with instructions, plug and cruise simple as that

I got the Mopar brand, bought it off http://www.justforjeeps.com/spcokit.html for about $220. The hardest part is just popping the airbag out, you just have to find the three hooks that hold it onto the steering wheel, here's a picture of it:

Image

The little black tab is hooked on an aluminum anchor that's on the steering wheel. To get it off, all you have to do is use a small flat head screwdriver and push it toward the outside of the steering wheel. It was a little tricky to get the hang of it on the first hook, but after that it was cake.

There are three anchors, you can reach them behind the steering wheel when it is in these three positions:

Then once the airbag isn't anchored, you can just pull it out and unplug the two plugs in the back end. Then you just have to undo the 13mm bolt holding the steering wheel on, and kinda shimmy the old steering wheel off. Then you just throw the new steering wheel they send back on, tighten the center bolt to 25 ft-lbs, and plug everything back in. The new cruise looks like this:

Overall, it was very easy, just plug and play. Although, I have heard several warnings to disconnect the battery ten minutes prior to messing with the airbag in order to avoid any chance of it accidentally going off while you're working on it. Sorry about the pics, I forgot to take them in the process!

Thanks for the reply and link Tittiez!
And yes about the air bag and taking the Neg battery cable off 10 minutes ahead of time.
A N***o owner just popped off his side bags, because he forgot to do this. :banghead:
