Can anyone give me any pointers? did a service a few weeks ago and before i removed the oil filter i noticed it was wet with oil on the outside and there was also oil present on the cross member below, at the time i hoped it was the oil filter seal and would be remedied by fitting a new filter. But had a lquick ook under the jeep today and there is oil there again.It is very awkward to see and i will have a look again in daylight tommorow, it seems to be coming from somewhere in the area of bottom of turbo or filter housing area, does anyone know which is the most likely ?I'm just hoping it is just a case of tightening up a pipe clamp or similar.Thanks.

It may be oil leaking from the turbo's oil line, or just oil sweating through the turbo air outlet hose. Depends on the quantity.

Dont think its oil sweating as ive never had a problem before,do you think it will be a simple case of tightening up a hose clip or is it more likely a hose needs replacing? Does the oil going into turbo come in from the top and return below?

I would wash the area with engine degreaser so you can see the point of origin.

I had my turbo oil pressure line crack at the fitting on the block. Only way to fix it was replace the line.

My hard line to the turbo is leaking too. Every so often it'll cover the area around the oil filter with oil. Wonder how hard of a fix this is?

Remember that being a 2004, there are some differences between the 2002-2004 and the 2005-2007 engines in this area.

2002-2004:
->Steel antiphon lower sump
->Oil filter "remote" mounted (cooler at front-right of engine attached to block, two lines run down the side of the engine)
->Oil filter mounted mostly-vertically at the side of the block

2005-2007
->Structural aluminum lower sump
->Oil filter mounts on the rear corner of sump, oil passages thru the lower sump
->Block change to accomodate

If you're leaking around the filter, I would check also the two hoses that connect to the filter mount, or maybe also the filter mount itself.
