Now that summer is soon approaching, I was wondering where would be the best place to have A/C leaks checked and the A/C recharged? Does the Dealership, Firestone, or any other shop offer a guarantee/warranty for at least 12 months? I recently bought a 2000 Jeep Cherokee and have no idea when the A/C was last working.

Check your local phone book in the automotive section. I know that there are a couple shops around my hometown that consider air conditioner maintenance/repair as one of their specialties, places that list it as a specialty would probably be more reputable in general, and possibly even have a warranty.

You want to know something funny? I live on a Reservation in Montana where cell phones don’t work. The nearest place to civilization is either Sheridan, Wyoming or Billings, MT. I’m thinking either a Firestone or the Dealership. Other than those two places, I don’t know very many local shops who service A/C’s. I might wait until this summer and let tjkj2002 look at it. He works at Firestone.

Don't know of anyone will that will give a 12 month warranty on A/C service alone. Now if they find a problem and fix it with a new part it would be warrantied, but not the entire system.

I just called the dealer and he said that they will warranty everything for 3 years/50,000 miles. Even if they recharge the system, and let's say another o-ring goes bad in a year, they will charge for the new part and labor, but they will refill the system for free. That's not a bad deal.
