And that is as close as I can describe. It appears to be coming from the turbo. It has been making the noise for over a year but barely audible except under light load just as I feather off the pedal during acceleration as I reach 25 mph or so & that is the speed limit. I don't notice anything if I stomp on it or if revved. I could only reproduce it on one particular steep 25 mph section of road in our neighborhood . . . until now. Now I can rev in neutral and make the noise. But again, it's very subtle. Last week's CRD work - I did not notice it this consistently nor was it reproduceable until now - included; Fuel filter, oil filter.com, oil, oil sending unit, air filter, clean MAP, new intake hose. Of all those I would think only the intake would affect anything in terms of asperating sounds. No?

Sounds like a normal turbo to me. I have a straight through glasspack so I hear it even more.

After running around the neighborhood a gazillion times stopping & starting & opening the hood, (I'm sure the neighbors are used to seeing the madman cursing at his suborn mule every other month or so) I found the turbo intake from the CCV was off. It was butted up against the outlet of it so it looked like it was on unless you grabbed it. (Loose hose clamp) I finally grabbed the right hose - and flop it went.

The noise is gone.

I now believe the previous times I heard this over the past year (albeit much quieter) was due to the deteriorating intake hose.

Thanks!!

- Chris
