Ok guys and gals, bear with me, I am still learning. I talked to the suspension and lift guy at Big O tires today and he told me this. There are no aftermarket struts for a 2" lift for the Liberty. None. Now, I am wondering....is there none at all or just none that he can get through Big O? He did say that Rancho makes an RSX rear shocks that are made for the 2" lift. He also recommended Rancho RSX strut upgrade for the front after I put the lift on. Is this right?

Second, are lift kits difficult to put on? Is there a lot of room for error? Can a person seriously screw this up? I am asking because Big O wants $225 to install and align. After what I spend on the kit and shocks....well I am already broke. hehe.

Im sure that there is someone in your area that can help you install the kit. Post your location.

Sadly, I am in Roseburg, OR. there aren't many folks over here. My boyfriend can help me put it in....or actually I can help him, but I wanted to know from people who have already done it if there are any potential problems to watch for during installation.

Lol, BIG O doesnt know much it sounds like. They do make "coil overs" for the libby, almost everyone with a full spring lift has them.

Ome, Rancho, and Rustys make coil overs for the libby, rustys may use ome im not to sure. I know the franken lift uses Rancho struts.

Putting a lift on a libby is nothing really. Heres some pics from where i put the lift on. Lot of good stuff in this thread.

Dont feel bad to ask questions, we all must learn at some point!

First of all....WHOOO HOOOOO! That looks fantastic! Now for more questions!! I get that a few manufacturers make "coil overs" (I was recently educated that folks call them struts but they are really coil over shocks) but are they longer or the same size but just better quality. From the pics it looks like they are the same size as the stock ones.

The Frankenlift is longer than stock. The OME is the same lengh as stock. The lift comes from a higher spring rate that does not let the spring compress as much, therefore holding the jeep up higher. The rear springs are actually taller.

Thanks guys for all your help! After much confusion, clarity, then more confusion....I had a moment of REAL clarity and ordered my Frankenlift! I won't get it till the end of March but that just gives me time to research mud tires and scrounge up more money for those! Then I can finally go scrappin!!

The price quoted to do the lift and alingment was not to bad (unless you are broke like the rest of us that spend to much money on the Jeep  )

Thats right, the franken lift uses rancho front struts, not ome. They only use ome springs front and rear, and rancho shocks front and rear.
