For DirecTV users here, they're finish beta-testing their new multi-room video system, call 'Connected Home.'

They use an device call 'DECA' (DirecTV Ethernet Coaxial Adapter) that allows them to use their own coaxial cable instead of cat5.

I've been with DirecTV since 2004, but have never looked for a forum because I have never had any problems with it.

I go back to PrimeStar. Still got that old dish.

I'm getting the 'Whole Home DVR' install tomorrow.

I am calling to check prices... Time Warner just upped our monthly rate AGAIN!!!! We get price jump almost every 6 months.... GGGRRRR

Cable sucks, dude. Plain and simple. And that whole thing about losing signal when the weather is bad? Not if your dish is properly adjusted to receive satellite signal. Mine only acts up a very little bit as a big storm system moves in, then once it starts raining, everything is fine.

yeah, I know about the weather thing, we had Dish network few years back, but the only way to get high speed internet was through Road Runner/cable. They offered a 3 service deal cable/internet/digital phone for $89 for 2 yrs. After that the price has went up expodentially. I may go back to basic phone, keep the cable internet, and go back to a dish. My parent do have issues in the summer with their dish, the trees get full and because of how the house sits.... they have to deal with it.

When we were in the bush of Alaska, we had to have a 4 foot dish. Because of the angle to the sats, it looked like the thing was shooting through the earth. We couldn't have gone too much farther north and still have the thing work.

Got DirecTV 'Whole Home DVR' hooked up today. Took 'em a little over an hour. So far it does everything I could ask for.

Can't wait until they get RVU working.
