So I found another Lifted KJ on a Daystar Kit. We talked for ahwhile and he was saying that in 4-lo he gets a really haggered sound from the T-Case only under load, Is there a way to adjust the chain? He has the Same case as me 4-Part Time/4-HI/N/4-Lo. Is there a right up on this?

adjust the chain? i dont think the gears have any "adjustment"

if his chain is stretched it'll make a lot of racket before the chain flys to pieces, chains are pretty cheep, about a 2.5 hr job R&R split and replace

what case? if it's the Part-Time case with no "Full-Time or AWD" selection it's the 231

Hmmm...just what does a "really haggered sound" sound like?
I know that sometimes my Libby's transfer case "complains" when I try to put it into & out of 4WD Lo. Maybe that's what he's hearing. Or his transfer case is toast.

As you can see from the exploded view below there's no adjustment for the chain, not even a self adjuster mechanism.

Maybe what he's hearing is that his gears aren't fully engaged and his linkages between the shifter & the transfer case need to be adjusted.

kick the linkage off the TC and manually knock it back into 4lo and see if still does it

if it does, it's not the linkage ;)

I'll get him to try that out next time I see him. Does the Linkage have adjustment?

similar to old school 4 speed linkage, whatever you bend into the main rod

ive seen a liberty that had a slacker drop on it, like a clamp you could move whichs erved as adjustment, but mine isn't like that so i wouldn't expect it

The t-case shift linkage is cable operated no matter what t-case it came with,it is adjustable(to a certain point) also on the t-case side where the cable is attached to the trans. There is no old school mechanical t-case linkage in the KJ.

mine has a cable, that goes to a mechanical pivot arm linkage that i was referring to that got bent

my friends 05's linkage has the slacker slide on it

novak does have a full mechanical replacement for about 100 bucks

if my linkage setup isn't stock, it got in there in the 60k miles that i didn't own it shrug

either way it's in there now, could be part of a TJ linkage that found it's way in there

There is a arm on the t-case shifter shaft but a cable attaches instead of a rod. It's common for the cable end bushing or retaining clip to wearout and have play.If you bend that arm on the t-case shift shaft your doing something wrong, more so on a KJ since it is HSS.

I know what ya talkin about, atleast i'm pretty sure i do, but mine isn't like that thus the confusion

i'll take a pic before i install the novak shifter if i remember it

anyway, threads about /his/ linkage not mine which is apparently different, so i'll bow out
