I'm about a day away from ordering a pair or two of KC HiLiTES 100w Offroad lamps, which includes the wiring harness/relays/switch. Amazon has the best deal on the web at $90/pair.

However, I did some browsing around, and I stumbled across a pretty legit-looking eBay store called "Snappylights" (Check it out) which sells pretty darn nice looking lamps for unbelievably low prices with interchangeable lens colors and the works. Would it be overkill to purchase 4 or so more lights from this guy for a total of eight lights on the roof rack? Has anyone purchased this guy's lights before? The price seems too low to be quality but the picture look sturdy and his feedback is excellent.

Would I need to look into purchasing a separate battery for power management? I'm not even sure how to run a wire from the top of my 05 KJ down to the battery and back to the cab to a switch, but I'll probably get it professionally done. Also, would I need to purchase the light-mounting brackets from Surco or can I bolt directly onto the rack?

Any help is appreciated!

you wont need a separate battery, but i highly doubt you can fit 8 on the front...most i can think you can fit on that rack is 5

I'd mount a few on the sides and rear, I think the rack could fit 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 honestly :)

surco makes light tabs for the rack which i would use...you can fit 4 on the front, 2 on the back for reverse lights and 1 per side for S&G :P

You don't need fancy brackets to attach lamps to your Surco roof basket. I drilled holes and attached my lights directly to the rack.

Looks darn good. How sturdy is that wiring though?

The black wires are the stock Hella500 lamp wiring harness and the red wire is a 14 gauge return ground line from the lamps and they held up well to the weather. Covering them with black electrical tape hides them and keeps them from flapping.
I used two relays to control the lamps and ran a single ground line for them back to my dash. It works well.
