Seems BP has finally caught up to the rest of the world in announcing that this is an environmental catastrophe

Humanity's actions killing off species is not really a new thing, and hardly raises a whimper most of the time. A few years ago, an ugly fish with the unfortunate name of Patagonian Tooth Fish was found to be tasty and relatively easy to catch. So, they changed the name to Chilean Sea Bass and fished it into near extinction. This happens again and again and includes such rare creatures as some giant tortoises and the largest species of manatee ( Douglas, perhaps?) which were brought to extinction by man.

We can argue the economic impact of losing generations of shrimp, but as to a humanitarian or ecological inppact, well, I don't think any of us using electricty to play on the internet by using machines made of hazardous metals extracted from the Earth with ruinous mining techinques after driving internal combustion powered jeeps to a playground really have the right to be ecologically outraged. There may or may not be Gulf shrimp, but there will be shrimp. :2cents:

Years ago when the Auto Industry figured out that Dead People Don't Buy Cars, they made the cars safer and the SAE lead the way. As long as the Bean Counters are kept on the Leash all works OK as far as Safety Goes. when Lawyers or Government writes the specs, people get killed like they did with the first generation air bags.
When this oil mega spew problem is over, Engineers in the OIL Industry will get handed the job to fix it for good by the industry Big Shots so it never happens again. The Engineers will design it so it won't fail and both the Engineers and Big Shots will tell the Bean Counters to F#ck them selves in no uncertain terms. If Government is intelligent for a moment, they will adopt the safety standards and make them law instead of brewing up what ever political crap spews out of their word processors.
The best Safety Standards are written by Industry after a disaster, not by Government.

Come on dude! Zombies need to get around to find brains and have every right to drive as we do. Though we have total right to shoot their maggot-filled skulls to kingdom come whenever we want....then take thier cars. We need to petition the Auto industry to allow the Zombies to have Benz, Ferrari's, Bentley's, and so forth.

I like those China white tiger shrimp from china better anyway. Best oysters come from the puget sound near Shelton. I'm good.
