I want to the Dealer today to get some touch up paint and asked for a build sheet. The parts guy had my VIN for looking up the paint color and Said he could print me a full optipon report. What I got was a "Star Network-Vehicle Information Report"

page 2 has one item I didn't know I had. I didn't think I had remote start and if I do have it I have not a clue how to use it.
Its listed on the report as

Code:5A4 Remote Start System (Mopar)

I have no start button on either of my keys, just lock, unlock, panic and the lift glass buttons. I'm going to ask about it when I go back to pick up the paint but does anyone know what I should be looking for to use this feature if I in fact have it?

I had a Subaru once that I didnt know I had remote start.....pretty scary when you come out of the gas station and your car is running with no keys in it! Turns out I had to press and hold both buttons, so you could try that.

Thanks I am going to try that in a few minutes.

I had a few Subarus in the past, they were pretty nice cars. I had a 90 legacy and a 2003 Outback limited sedan. I traded the Outback for the Jeep. What were you driveing Before your Jeep.

well pressing both buttons only unlocked it when I tried before I left for work. Oh well I will ask at the dealer when I go back.

yeah it would have been good to get the heat going before I went outside. I need to figure out how to use it now. I am thinking I need some extra remote or key fob do-dad I didn't get with the Jeep.

Yes! that is it.... thats what they showed me at the dealer yesterday. They said I should have the system installed but the guy wasn't sure how to verify that the system was installed. Then they say I can't order just a remote..... they only list the entire kit for $210.00 I did find a place on line that sells just the remote. I am trying to see if they know how to check to see if the remote start stuff is installed in my jeep. If it is the remotes are around $30 each.

I was told the system had a hood switch but I have not seen one anywhere.

The hood switch should look something like this...

Your other option would be to pull the driver's side kick panel and look. I believe that's where they factory unit installs.

You should also have a dipole antenna mounted on the windshield behind the rear view mirror.

Thanks I have the antenna behind the mirror. I never knew what that was for...I thought for the garage door opener but I never programed that since I don't have a Garage at home. I will have to look for the hood switch again I don't recall seing anything like that before.
