I've just about decided on the OME lift for my '05 sport. Seems to be the best bang for the buck ($750) to get better clearance and retain (or improve) the ride.
But, I need new tires now. I actually have been reading here and it seems the 245/70/16 should fit my stock steel rims. How will they be once I install the OME lift?
Also has anyone installed this lift? The instructions they sent me weren't too specific. Do you have to assemble the coil springs and shocks? How hard is it?
Thanks guys.

Tires will seem a little small after your lift. Best bet is to take your front shocks and springs to a shop to put them together( much safer with the correct spring compresser).

Not at all hard to do
and yes much safer / easier to take them to a shop to have the front springs / shocks put together
here is a picture of the last one we did here in my garage with 245-70s on it after the lift (OME 927/948s) This is RenegadeMarines ride
And has anyone installed this lift, I've done about 14 OME lifts here in my garage, and there has been thousands more who did them on LOST here
Renegade Marines with 245-70s ...245-75s work and look better

I can't emphasize this piece of good advice enough. When I did my 2.5" Daystar lift a couple weeks ago I first took Tom's advice with a grain of salt and attempted to compress my front springs with a good heavy duty set of screw type compressors, and with the springs at about half compression the tool looked like it was going to fly apart on me.
I ended up taking Tom's advice and took my fronts to a local garage to use their floor press, and even then I had to get the assembly in their machine just right so it wouldn't fly out on me.....

Other than that it's not a difficult job, took me approximately 6 hours total....

Allright there Thibodaux,I can lend a hand if you promise not to jump ship on me.
Seems everyone around here that I help Jeep-wise leaves the state(Shaggy&LW :goink: ).

Are the tires "that" bad?Can they hold out a lil longer?

Nah, my wife would never let me leave south LA. Not with our granddaughter living less than a mile away.
I don't drive it everyday so could wait a little while. Have a trip planned to Santa Fe in October so want to have the tires and lift before then. Thanks for the offer of help!
