Hey folks, I have the Ollie Gates BBQ sauce recipe. If you have ever ate BBQ in KC at one of the 6-7 Gates' BBQ locations, you love this stuff. Let me know if anyone is interested. I have whipped up several batches, and I think it is right on with theirs. You can adjust the heat level by changing the red pepper amounts.

1 cup sugar
1/4 cup salt
2 Tablespoons celery seed
2 Tablespoons ground cumin
1 Tablespoon red (hot) pepper...ground
2 Tablespoons garlic powder
1 Tablespoon chili powder
2 qt ketchup
2 cups apple cider vinegar
1 1/2 teaspoons liquid smoke
1 teaspoon lemon juice

No cooking required, just mix it all up and let it sit in the fridge for a couple of days so the flavors blend together. Good in the fridge for 3 weeks or freeze it for later use.

It makes a lot. 1/4 cup is the correct amount. It doesn't taste salty at all.
