Hello all

well my replacement keyless fob came the other day so I tried to program it using my original remote. I was using 2 similar methods, one that was sent with the remote and one from the net, oh actually 3 one from here somewhere. At any rate when all is said and done I get the new remote to work, but then the original doesnt. So I start over again and then I get the original to work and not the new one... I did this several times and decided to stop while I have one still working as at one point neither worked~! Now on another post somewhere here someone mentioned that this might happen and to press the lock and unlock button on the now dead remote at the same time and press another button and release..this should make it work...but I have had no luck.

one other note, while trying to program the fob's I noticed that the odometer read 6lass when I pressed the fob buttons...

any info or direction is much appreciated.

Lol, that sounds like some crazy stuff! I use the Evic to reprogram them, but I take it you do not have that.

The same thing happened to, I just gave up. But I would love to find out how to fix it.

losttourist, it sounds just like what happened to me 3 weeks ago. After 2 or 3 tries I thought why is 1 working and the other not? Well I followed the instruction in the manual. Once you have the jeep in progam mod you must progam 1 then the other before you take it out of progam mod. That's what I wasn't doing. Hope this helps. Good Luck! Jamie

Well you were right Jamie thanks . I figured out what I was doing wrong. As I mentioned in my first post I read somewhere on this board that I would have to program the original as it would not be working once I programmed the new one. What I was doing wrong was after I got the non programmed fob working , I would quickly program the 2nd ( original) with no result. What I should have done was after one was programmed, I would have to wait a few seconds for the audible chime, then program the next fob, if done correctly another audible chime would sound from the jeep. ( like the seatbelt chime )
Then I had to turn off the vehicle, ( exiting programming mode ) and voila both fob's work!

Seems so simple now.
